Abstract

Penggunaan Liquified Petroleum Gasses (LPG,) sebagai bahan bakar untuk kendaraan bermotor masih kurang populer di masyarakat dibandingkan dengan penggunaan bahan bakar bensin maupun solar. Hal ini diantaranya disebabkan masih mahal harga konverter gas dan jarang Stasiun Penjualan Bahan Bakar Umum (SPBU) yang menyediakan pengisian gas. LPG merupakan bahan bakar yang lebih ramah lingkungan dan salah satu solusi energi alternatif untuk kendaraan bermotor, dimana cadangan minyak bumi semakin berkurang, sedangkan bahan bakar gas masih melimpah. Penelitian ini merupakan deskriptif eksperimental dengan melakukan pengujian pengunaan konverter LPG pada kendaraan bermotor, jenis sepeda motor 4 langkah 1 silinder dengan kapasitas 110 cc. Pada eksperimen ini dilakukan pengaturan tekanan aliran gas LPG melalui pressure gauge, dengan tekanan 1 bar serta diameter saluran udara yang masuk pada ruang bakar sebesar 0,15 mm, sudah mampu menyuplai atau menghidupkan mesin Yamaha Mio J. Dan pada tekanan 5 bar sampai 7 bar dapat terjadi Over Pressure yang dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya Back Fire pada saat menyalakan mesin sepeda motor. Dengan demikian akan diperoleh seberapa besar pengaruh tekanan gas LPG pada ruang bakar dan diameter saluran udara, terhadap unjuk kerja motor. Pada penelitian ini unjuk kerja motor yang diteliti yaitu efektifitas tekanan yang dibutuhkan oleh ruang bakar. Kata Kunci : Sistem Katup Pengaman, Pressure Gauge, Check Valve. The use of Liquified Petroleum Gasses (LPG,) as fuel for motor vehicles is still less popular in the community compared to the use of gasoline and diesel fuels. This is partly due to the still expensive gas converter prices and rarely the General Fuel Sales Station (SPBU) which provides gas filling. LPG is a more environmentally friendly fuel and an alternative energy solution for motor vehicles, where petroleum reserves are diminishing, while natural gas is still abundant. This research is an experimental descriptive by testing the use of LPG converters in motorized vehicles, type 4 stroke 1 cylinder motorcycles with a capacity of 110 cc. In this experiment, the regulation of LPG gas flow pressure through a pressure gauge, with a pressure of 1 bar and the diameter of the air passage entering the combustion chamber at 0.15 mm, is able to supply or start a Yamaha Mio J engine. And at 5 bar to 7 bar pressures can occur Over Pressure which can result in Back Fire when starting a motorcycle engine. Thus it will be obtained how much influence the LPG gas pressure on the combustion chamber and the diameter of the air duct, on the performance of the motor. In this study the performance of the motor under study is the effectiveness of the pressure required by the combustion chamber. Keywords: Safety Valve System, Pressure Gauge, Check Valve.
