Abstract

ABSTRAK Proses pemanasan awal terhadap udara di dalam mesin pengering memiliki peranan penting pada hasil pengeringan. Eksperimen ini membahas tentang mesin pengering tepung talas. Riset ini diawali dengan perakitan komponen-komponen mesin pengering jenis “tray dryer”. Temperature udara pada heater dikondisikan sebesar 60, 70 dan 80 °C. Untuk keperluan pengambilan data temperatur udara, alat ukur thermometer dipasang pada pipa heater. Hasil riset menunjukan bahwa densitas tepung terendah yaitu debit udara 0,094 m³/s dengan temperatur udara 60°C. Untuk densitas tepung tertinggi yaitu pada debit udara 0,094 m3 /s dengan temperatur udara 80 °C. Kata kunci : mesin pengering, elemen pemanas, pengeringan sistem rak ABSTRACT Preheating process of air in the dryer has an important role in the drying out. This experiment deals with taro flour dryers. This research begins with the assembly of "tray dryer" drying machine components. Air temperature in the heater is conditioned at 60, 70 and 80 ° C. The results showed that the lowest flour density was airflow 0.094 m³ / s with air temperature 60 ° C.
