Abstract

The large amount of rubber waste in Indonesia, especially rubber waste originating from the roller printing industry that has not been processed and utilized tends to harm and pollute the surrounding environment, therefore in this study we will discuss the use of rubber powder waste as the main ingredient of brick making. To get a good quality brick that is by looking at the compressive strength of the brick produced, it is necessary to have the optimal composition of raw materials that can be produced through the experimental design. In this study the experimental design used was the Taguchi method. The purpose of this study was to find out how much the composition ratio of rubber powder waste to get a quality brick, and to find out the strength of brick based on waste powder rubber. From the identification of controlled factors obtained factors that influence the compressive strength of bricks, namely cement, cornice adhesive, rubber powder waste and water. The experiment was conducted with three different factors. From the results of the analysis it was found that the optimal factor level combination was A3 (1.8 kg cement) and B3 (0.43 kg adhesive cornice) Keywords: Design Experiment, Compressive Strength, Taguchi Method. Banyaknya limbah karet yang ada di indonsia, khususnya limbah karet yang berasal dari industri roller printing yang belum diolah dan dimanfaatkan cenderung merugikan dan mencemari lingkungan sekitar, maka dari itu dalam penelitian ini akan dibahas pemanfaatan limbah serbuk karet sebagai bahan utama pembuat batako. Untuk memperoleh batako yang berkualitas baik yaitu dengan melihat kuat tekan batako yang dihasilkan maka diperlukan komposisi bahan baku yang optimal yang dapat dihasilkan melalui rancangan percobaan. Dalam penelitian ini rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah metode Taguchi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui seberapa banyak perbandingan komposisi limbah serbuk karet agar mendapat batako yang berkualitas, dan untuk mengetahui kekuatan batako berbadan dasar limbah serbuk karet. Dari identifikasi faktor terkontrol diperoleh faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kuat tekan batu bata yaitu semen, cornice adhesive, limbah serbuk karet dan air. Percobaan dilakukan dengan tiga taraf faktor yang berbeda. Dari hasil analisis didapatkan kombinasi taraf faktor yang optimal yaitu A3 (semen 1,8 kg) dan B3 (cornice adhesive 0,43 kg) Kata kunci : Rancangan Percobaan, Kuat Tekan, Metode Taguchi.
