Abstract

Interpersonal communication on Tinder's online dating application is something unique. One of the factors that determine the development or termination of relationships in this application is good and effective interpersonal communication, the intensity of communication, and the motives of the users. This also relates to interpersonal communication patterns on Tinder's online dating application. This study aims to determine the interpersonal communication patterns of online dating actors in the Tinder application and how the user processes in building and disconnecting in this application. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type and constructivist paradigms. The research method used is a case study based on in-depth interviews with informants and documentation and research supporting data. The research obtained that there are two types of users of online dating applications Tinder based on the purpose of the relationship, namely the serious type and the fad type. Both have different communication processes and stages in the Tinder application. But both of them agreed to pay attention to aspects of appearance and how attractive the profile of their Match candidates before finally deciding to swipe left or right. . Keywords: Public Relations, Interpersonal Communication Patterns, Successfully Married From Tinder Komunikasi interpersonal pada aplikasi kencan online Tinder adalah sesuatu yang unik. Salah satu faktor yang menentukan perkembangan atau pemutusan hubungan dalam aplikasi ini adalah komunikasi inerpersonal yang baik dan efektif, intensitas komunikasi, dan motif para pengguna. Hal ini juga berhubungan dengan pola komunikasi interpersonal pada aplikasi kencan online Tinder. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola komunikasi interpersonal yang dimiliki pelaku online dating di aplikasi Tinder dan bagaimana proses pengguna dalam membangun dan memutuskan hubungan dalam aplikasi ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tipe penelitian deskriptif dan paradigma konstruktivistik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus yang berdasarkan pada wawancara yang mendalam dengan narasumber dan dokumentasi serta data pendukung penelitian. Dari hasil penelitian didapat bahwa ditemukan terdapat dua tipe pengguna aplikasi kencan online Tinder berdasarkan tujuan relasi, yaitu tipe serius dan tipe iseng. Keduanya memiliki proses dan tahapan komunikasi yang berbeda dalam aplikasi Tinder. Namun keduanya sepakat memerhatikan aspek penampilan dan seberapa menarik profil calon Match mereka sebelum akhirnya memutuskan untuk men swipe ke kiri atau pun ke kanan .
