Abstract

Bias & Tube Plant PT GT Tbk is a company engaged in the automotive sector, specifically producing tires in cars (tubes). In the process of making tires, there are several sections that must be passed, including banbury mixing, extrusion tube, splicing tube, and curing tube. The largest type of scrap finish goods is produced by scrap open splice. Open splice in the last 3 months in October - December 2019, became the highest defect with the acquisition of 0.26% in October 2019, 0.24% in November 2019, and in December 0.30%. Therefore there needs to be analysis and corrective action to reduce open splice. Corrective action to reduce scrap open splice is by carrying out corrective actions and preventive actions. The method used in this study begins with observing the work area to determine the background of this study which is supported by a literature review, then continues and implements the DMAIC method and the calculation of product performance to determine the factors that cause scrap open splice and find out the biggest factors that influence for scrap open splice to do a repair. Based on the results of calculations and analysis of research that has been done, the factors of foreign material (talc clumping) and uneven gumlining are factors that have a big influence on the occurrence of open splice and for corrective measures carried out adjusting gumlining when the connection results are uneven (adjusting material conditions) and Addition comp'd XW-604 gumsheet on the side in the green tube join area, so the sigma value of the two factors increases on average to 0.08. Keywords : Implementation, DMAIC, Open Splice, Tube Plant Bias&Tube PT GT Tbk merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak dibidang otomotif khususnya memproduksi ban dalam mobil (tube). Dalam proses pembuatan ban dalam terdapat beberapa section yang harus dilewati, anatara lain banbury mixing, extruidng tube, splicing tube, dan curing tube. Jenis scrap finish goods terbesar dihasilkan oleh scrap open splice. Open splice pada 3 bulan terakhir pada bulan Oktober – Desember 2019, menjadi defect tertinggi dengan perolehan 0,26% pada bulan Oktober 2019, 0,24% pada bulan November 2019, dan pada bulan Desember 0,30%. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya analisa dan tindakan perbaikan untuk mengurangi open splice.Tindakan perbaikan untuk mengurangi scrap open splice adalah dengan cara melakukan kegiatan correction action dan preventive action. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diawali dengan melakukan observasi area kerja untuk menentukan latar belakang penelitian, kemudian dilanjutkan implementasi metode DMAIC dan perhitungan kinerja produk untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor penyebab terjadinya scrap open splice dan mengetahui faktor terbesar yang berpengaruh terhadap scrap open splice untuk dilakukan sebuah perbaikan. Berdasarkan dari hasil perhitungan serta analisa penelitian yang telah dilakukan, faktor adanya Foreign Material (talc menggumpal) dan gumlining tidak rata menjadi faktor yang berpengaruh besar terjadinya open splice dan untuk langkah perbaikannya dilakukan adjust gumlining saat hasil sambungan tidak rata (menyesuaikan kondisi material) dan Penambahan gumsheet comp'd XW-604 pada bagian side di area join green tube, sehingga nilai sigma pada kedua faktor tersebut rata-ratanya meningkat menjadi 0,08.
