Abstract
PT Sinar Meadow International Indonesia (SMII) is a company engaged in the production of palm oil and its consumption oil, the base of palm oil, in the field of margarine production. In order to maintain the quality of packaged products, PT. SMII tries to minimize the number of defects from each inspection unit. Data collection was carried out from January to June 2020, the largest oil defect was 44% and occurred in the sealing process. Interviews with related parties were conducted to find the main cause of the defect then through the fishbone diagram. The results of data processing indicate that the main potential cause is the engine factor. Improvement analysis was performed using the Define, Measure, Analysis, Improvement & Control (DMAIC) method. In the Repairing stage, the repair planning is in the form of setting the wind on the sealing machine to match the wind standards for each type of packaging by means of the operator on the sealing machine section making wind arrangements on the sealing machine with the aim that the plastic packaging can be well realized. At the control ground stage, check the machine before and after the packaging process, supervise the operator and the wind standards on the sealing machine. Keywords: DMAIC, Packaging, Oil out Defects PT Sinar Meadow International Indonesia (SMII) adalah perusahaan yang bergerak pada bidang produksi lemak dan minyak konsumsi berbahan dasar minyak kelapa sawit khususnya dalam bidang pembuatan Margarin. Demi mempertahankan kualitas packaging produk, PT. SMII berusaha meminimalisir jumlah kecacatan dari setiap unit inspeksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dari bulan Januari hingga bulan Juni 2020, didapatkan cacat oil out merupakan jenis cacat terbesar yaitu sebesar 44% dan terjadi pada proses sealing. Wawancara dengan pihak terkait dilakukan untuk mencari penyebab utama cacat kemudian ditampilkan melalui fishbone diagram. Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan penyebab utama yang potensial adalah faktor mesin. Analisis perbaikan dilakukan dengan metode Define, Measure, Analysis, Improve & Control (DMAIC). Pada tahap Improve didapatkan usulan perbaikan berupa melakukan setting angin pada mesin sealing agar sesuai dengan standar angin pada setiap jenis packaging dengan cara operator pada bagian mesin sealing melakukan setting angin pada mesin sealing dengan tujuan agar packaging plastik dapat terseal dengan baik. Pada tahap control disarankan melakukan pengecekan mesin sebelum dan sesudah proses packaging melakukan pengawasan terhadap operator dan standar angin di mesin sealing.
