Abstract

Electrical energy is one of the most important needs in rural communities. Topographic and geographic conditions of the region as well as limited infrastructure are believed to contribute to the difficulty of accessing energy for the community. (ebt story) Utilization of the potential of river flow energy, with the characteristics of river currents in Indonesia, especially in the Mancung River, Ciledug District, Tangerang City can use a flat blade water turbine. The existing flat blade water turbines have an efficiency of 18% to 46%. These turbines can still be developed to get higher efficiency. Based on this potential, this study aims to redesign a flat blade water turbine using a horizontal axis and analyze its performance using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. This study uses a variation of river velocity of 1 m / s; 1.5 m / s; 2 m / s; 2.5 m / s; and 3 m / s. From the simulation results, it is found that the torque is 126; 296; 538; 925; and 1,209 Nm, turbine power of 221; 785; 1,902; 4,092; and 7,655 Watts, the Coefficient of Power is 39; 41; 42; 46; and 50%. Keywords: Flat blade turbine, Water Turbine, River Flow Turbine, Computational Fluid Dynamics. Energi listrik merupakan salah satu kebutuhan penting dalam masyarakat pedesaan. Kondisi topografi dan geografi wilayah serta keterbatasan infrastruktur diyakini turut menyumbang sulitnya akses energi bagi masyarakat. (cerita ebt) Pemanfaatan potensi energi arus sungai, dengan karakteristik arus sungai di Indonesia khususnya di Sungai Mancung, Kecematan Ciledug, Kota Tangerang dapat menggunakan turbin air bilah datar. Turbin air bilah datar yang telah ada saat ini memiliki efisiensi sebesar 18% sampai 46 % turbin ini masih dapat dikembangkan untuk mendapatkan efisiensi lebih tinggi. Berdasarkan potensi tersebut, maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendesain ulang turbin air bilah datar menggunakan sumbu horizontal dan menganalisis kinerjanya menggunakan metode Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Penelitian ini menggunakan variasi kecepatan sungai sebesar 1 m/s; 1,5 m/s; 2 m/s; 2,5 m/s; dan 3 m/s. Dari hasil simulasi didapatkan bahwa torsi 126; 296; 538; 925; dan 1.209 Nm, Daya Turbin sebesar 221; 785; 1.902; 4.092; dan 7.655 Watt, Coefficient of Power sebesar 39; 41; 42; 46; dan 50 %.
