Abstract

Indonesia as a developing country with technological developments, economic growth, and development from year to year has resulted in increased use of various metals, for example in the form of steel, iron, aluminum, and others. The metal is widely used in the metal industry, the transportation industry, the mining and energy industry, public works, the agricultural industry, and so on. Corrosion, or commonly known as rusting, is an event of damage or deterioration in the quality of a metal substance caused by chemical reactions with the environment such as humid air, chemicals, and sea water. The purpose of this study is to conduct corrosion testing of aluminum 1100, 5052, and 7075, looking for the type of aluminum that has the best corrosion resistance among the three types of aluminum material tested. The methodology applied in this research is corrosion testing by calculating the corrosion rate of aluminum. The results of this test show that the corrosion rate of aluminum 1100 gets corrosion resistance of 2.18 mm / year at 21 hours, for aluminum 5052 it has corrosion resistance of 4.11 mm / year at 21 hours, for aluminum 7075 it has corrosion resistance of 0.64 at 21 hours. In this study, it can be concluded that aluminum 7075 has better corrosion resistance than aluminum 1100 and 5052. Keyword: Aluminum series 1100, 5052, 7075, corrosion, corrosion rate. Indonesia sebagai negara berkembang dengan perkembangan teknologi, pertumbuhan ekonomi, dan pembangunan dari tahun ke tahun mengakibatkan meningkatnya penggunaan berbagai logam, misalnya berupa baja, besi, aluminium, dan lain-lain. Logam tersebut banyak digunakan dalam sektor industri logam, industri perhubungan, industri pertambangan dan energi, pekerjaan umum, industri pertanian, dan lain sebagainya. Korosi atau secara awam dikenal sebagai pengkaratan, merupakan suatu peristiwa kerusakan atau penurunan kualitas suatu bahas logam yang disebabkan oleh terjadinya reaksi kimia dengan lingkungan seperti udara lembab, bahan kimia, dan air laut. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan pengujian korosi terhadap aluminium 1100, 5052, dan 7075, Mencari jenis aluminium yang memiliki ketahanan korosi terbaik diantara ketiga jenis material Aluminium yang di uji. Metodologi yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini adalah pengujian korosi dengan cara menghitung laju korosi pada aluminium. Hasil pada pengujian ini didapatkan laju korosi aluminium 1100 mendapatkan ketahanan korosi 2.18 mm/year pada 21 jam, pada aluminium 5052 mendapatkan ketahanan korosi 4,11 mm/year pada 21 jam, pada aluminium 7075 mendapatkan ketahanan korosi 0,64 pada 21 jam. Pada penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa aluminium 7075 lebih baik ketahanan korosi dibandingkan material aluminium 1100 dan 5052. Kata kunci: Aluminium seri 1100, 5052, 7075, korosi, laju korosi
