Abstract

When the water flow is high, there will be high water pressure in the pipe space causing leakage in the imperfect connection gap in the generator cover and vibrations due to misalignment resulting in a bigger gap. The conditions exist in the water turbine generator in the UMB mechanical engineering lab. So this research will discuss about the redesign of generator cover using The Assembly Evaluation Method (AEM). The AEM method has been widely used for use in the production processes of manufacturing companies used by Hitachi. Ltd. Then from the previous generator cover problems, this study will eliminate leaks that occur in the generator cover and reduce misalignment. The complexity of assembling on the previous generator cover is that it takes 1 hour for installation and 1 hour for dismantling. With the AEM method, it will reduce the level of complexity during assembly and dismantling. This method also makes the quality of the generator increase. The result is that the production time when assembling and disassembling only takes 30 minutes and the leakage problem can be resolved and the rotor misalignment problem can be resolved. Keywords: cover generator, AEM method, redesign Pada saat aliran air yang tinggi akan terjadi tekanan air yang tinggi pada ruang pipa menyebabkan kebocoran pada celah penyambungan yang tidak sempurna di cover generator serta getaran akibat misalignmentmengakibatkan celah semakin besar. Kondisi terdapat pada generator turbin air yang ada di lab Teknik mesin UMB. Maka pada penelitian ini akan dibahas mengenai perancangan ulang cover generator dengan metode The Assembly Evaluation Method (AEM).Metode AEM sudah banyak digunakan untuk digunakan dalam proses produksi perusahaan manufacturing yang dipakai oleh Hitachi. Ltd. Kemudian dari permasalahan cover generator sebelumnya, maka penelitian ini akan menghilangkan kebocoran yang terjadi pada cover generator serta mengurangi misalignment. Kerumitan perakitan pada cover generator sebelumnya yaitu memerlukan waktu 1 jam untuk pemasangan dan 1 jam untuk pembongkaran. Dengan metode AEM akan mengurangi tingkat kerumitan saat perakitan dan bembongkaran.Dengan metode ini juga membuat kualitas pada generator mengalami peningkatan. Hasilnya waktu produksi saat perakitan dan pembongkaran hanya memerlukan waktu 30 menit serta masalah kebocoran dapat diatasi dan masalah misalignment pada rotor dapat diatasi Kata kunci: cover generator, metode AEM, perancangan ulang
