Abstract
Desalination plant is one of the systems that serves to support the operation of the power plant, specifically to guarantee the availability of water that will be used to produce steam. Desalination is a process to reduce the salt content (TDS / Total Dissolved Solids) in sea water (sea water) to a safe level for use in a power plant system. The desalination plant cannot be ruled out and its reliability and continuity of operations must be maintained in order to be able to provide sufficient water supply for the needs of the power plant. Therefore the Desalination Plant is equipped with a series of automatic control systems consisting of sensors, controllers, and a control room (control room) to support the reliability of its operations. One of them is in controlling the Flow make-up desalination plant that uses a closed loop dick system where the flow control uses FCV (Flow Control Valve) and feedback from the Flow Transmitter, but the use of this control system has not been able to maintain the stability of the flow which directly affects the last stage level so that the flow value and level oscillate up to ± 6%, besides that the change in the opening value of the oscillating actuator also causes damage to the piston of the actuator. After analyzing the instability of flow control make-up in the desalination plant due to inadequate PI control to pursue the response to the specified set point, and cannot accommodate the disturbance from load changes and disturbance so that oscillations occur. Based on the results of the PID control design based on the Root locus method, the Kp value is obtained; Kd; and Ki respectively 10,194; 4.9; and 0.97. This control system has met the speed and stability of a good response with the system data having 96,078% saturation overshoot in the range of 5s, settling time 1,174 s, and steady�state error 0,002%. Keywords: Desalination Plant, Sensor, Transmitter, Close Loop, Root Locus, PID Control Desalination plant merupakan salah satu sistem yang berfungsi untuk menunjang operasional PLTU, khususnya untuk menjamin tersedianya air yang akan dipergunakan untuk memproduksi uap. Desalinasi adalah proses untuk mengurangi kandungan garam (TDS/Total Dissolved Solids) pada air laut (sea water) sampai pada level aman untuk dipergunakan dalam sistem PLTU. Desalination plant tidak dapat dikesampingkan dan harus dijaga kehandalannya dan keberlangsungan operasinya agar dapat menyediakan suplai air yang cukup untuk kebutuhan PLTU. Oleh karenanya Desalination plant dilengkapi dengan serangkaian sistem kontrol otomatis yang terdiri dari sensor–sensor, kontroller, serta ruang pengendali (control room) guna menunjang keandalan operasinya. Salah satunya pada pengontrolan Flow make-up desalination plant yang menggunakan sistem kontol loop tertutup dimana pengendalian flow menggunakan FCV (Flow Control Valve) dan feedback dari Flow Transmitter, akan tetapi penggunaan sistem kontrol ini belum dapat menjaga kestabilan flow yang secara langsung mempengaruhi level last stage, sehingga nilai flow dan level berosilasi hingga ±6%, disamping itu perubahan nilai pembukaan dari aktuator yang berosilasi juga menyebabkan terjadinya kerusakan pada piston aktuator. Setelah dianalisa ketidakstabilan pengendalian flow make-up pada desalination plant disebabkan pengontrolan PI yang tidak memadai untuk mengejar respon terhadap set point yang ditentukan, dan tidak dapat mengakomodasi gangguan dari perubahan load dan disturbance sehingga terjadi osilasi. Berdasarkan hasil rancangan kontrol PID berdasarkan metode Root locus diperoleh nilai Kp; Kd; dan Ki berturut-turut sebesar 10,194; 4,9; dan 0,97. Sistem Kontrol ini sudah memenuhi kecepatan dan kesetabilan respon yang baik dengan data sistem memiliki overshoot saturasi 96,078% dalam rentang 5s, settling time 1,174 s, dan steady-state error 0,002%.
