Abstract
Hot Roll Coil (HRC) is a type of steel produced by the Hot Strip Mill factory which has a lot of demand in the world. In the production process, work roll is one of the main components that affects product quality. With the event of a broken roll type High Chromium during the production process can inhibit the production process. Based on the production program from the IBA Analyzer states that the production process in accordance with the normal program there are no obstacles that can affect the fracture of the roll. Based on the dimensions of the work roll, after the operation of 732.99 mm so that it can still be used again. Roll fracture analysis using material investigation methods includes, visual analysis, material strength analysis and micro structure analysis by taking core & layer samples from the roll. In the fracture roll sample there are casting defects on both the core and layer in the form of inclusions and shrinkage. The casting defect weakens the strength of the roll in receiving cyclic and impact loads during the HRC production process. Weakening of the strength of the work roll due to casting defects that makes the amount of hardness has decreased into 63-67 HRC in the area close the fracture. Plat Baja Panas atau Hot Roll Coil (HRC) merupakan jenis baja yang diproduksi oleh pabrik Hot Strip Mill yang memiliki banyak peminat di pasar dunia. Pada proses produksinya, work roll merupakan salah satu komponen utama yang mempengaruhi kualitas produk. Dengan peristiwa terjadinya roll patah jenis High Chromium saat proses produksi dapat menghambat proses produksi. Berdasarkan program produksi dari IBA Analyzer menyatakan bahwa proses produksi sesuai dengan program normal tidak ada kendala yang dapat mempengaruhi patahnya roll. Berdasarkan dimensi work roll, setelah pengopersian sebesar 732,99 mm sehingga masih dapat digunakan kembali. Untuk mengetahui penyebab terjadinya patah maka dilakukan analisa patahan roll dengan metode investigasi material meliputi, analisa visual, analisa kekuatan material dan analisa mikro struktur dengan mengambil sampel core & layer dari roll. Pada sampel patahan roll terdapat hasil cacat casting baik pada core maupun layer berupa inklusi dan shrinkage. Cacat casting tersebut melemahkan kekuatan roll dalam menerima beban siklik dan impak saat proses produksi HRC. Melemahnya kekuatan work roll akibat cacat casting itu membuat besaran hardness mengalami penurunan dari menjadi 63-67 HRC pada daerah mendekati patahan.
