Abstract
Gambyong dance is a traditional dance that is familiar to the people of Surakarta. Based on the story of the Kingdom of Mataram in the XVI century, Gambyong Dance was adapted from the Tayub story and dance which tells the romance of Ki Ageng Mangir and Sekarun, which ended with sad ending. methods of introducing dance culture in the archipelago, one of which is with cultural education media. The educational media in question is a puppet that serves to introduce makeup and gambyong dancers' distinctive clothing, gambyong dance movements and the story behind Gambyong Dance. As an educational media, Bonkesan also plays a role in the development of children's cognitive, affective and psychomotor systems. It is hoped Bonkesan can be an effective media in the delivery of cultural education. So that it can give a contribution an active role in preserving traditional dances, especially Gambyong dance. Keywords : Bonkesan, Tari Gambyong, media edukasi Tari Gambyong merupakan tarian tradisional yang sudah tidak asing bagi masyarakat Surakarta. Berdasarkan pada cerita Kerajaan Mataram pada abad XVI Tari Gambyong diadaptasi dari cerita dan tarian Tayub yang berkisah cerita asmara Ki Ageng Mangir dan sekar Pembayun yang berakhir Tragis. Banyak metode dalam mengenalkan budaya Tarian di Nusantara, salah satunya adalah dengan media edukasi budaya. Media edukasi yang dimaksud adalah sebuah boneka peraga yang berfungsi memperkenalkan Rias dan busana ciri khas penari gambyong, ragam gerak tari gambyong dan kisah dibalik Tari Gambyong. Sebagai media edukasi, Bonkesan turut berperan dalam perkembangan sistem kognitif, afektif dan psikomotorik anak. Diharapkan Bonkesan dapat menjadi media yang efektif dalam penyampaian edukasi budaya. Sehingga dapat berkontribusi dalam melestarikan Tarian Tradisional, khususnya Tari Gambyong.
