Abstract
Marine Loading Arm (MLA) is an important means of unloading fuel from a tanker (ship) to a storage tank (shore). According to the manufacturer's data specifications, MLA 3 dock II has a maximum flow rate capacity of 750 (m³ / hr), but to increase speed in receiving fuel, the company set a maximum flow rate of 1,000 (m³ / hr). By experience MLA jetty II is often get a leak in the viton seal (swivel joint) which makes the disassembly process hampered because it has to be done to repair that takes a long time. To find out the life time of viton seals and get information about how to prevent seals from leaking frequently, it is necessary to analyze the fluid flow through the swivel joint. In analyzing fluid flow through the swivel joint, it is necessary to know how much pressure and fluid flow rate and enter the value into the life expectancy diagram of the viton seal (FKM / fluorocarbon). To find out the theoretical cause of viton seal leakage, 3 (three) variations of calculations were made with differences in the size of the MLA diameter and flow rate to get the flow rate (
