Abstract

The performance of a steam power plant is determined by the characteristics of the fuel. Suralaya Power Plant Unit 7 is designed using sub-bituminous coal which is currently supplied from various regions, there are several types of coal with different calorific values, namely Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) 4,921 kCal, Adaro 4,888 kCal, Bukit Asam (BA) 4,756 kCal, MHU 4,941 kCal. With the different types of coal used, the mass flow rate of coal will be different so that it will affect the specific consumption of fuel and boiler efficiency values. In the case study using the manual calculation method or the heat losses method, which considers the heat generated from burning coal in the combustion chamber is not channeled as a whole in the process of steam formation, but there is some heat loss. coal fuel consumption will change every time there is a change in the type of coal. This also affects the specific consumption of fuel as well as the efficiency value of the boiler, so that it will affect the production costs. The results showed that the higher the calorific value of the type of coal used, the boiler efficiency value would be higher, while the coal flow rate and specific fuel consumption would decrease. This means that at the same load, the higher the calorie value of coal, the lower the coal consumption. The highest boiler efficiency value at peak load of 600 MW is MHU coal type with an efficiency value of 84.01%, while the lowest boiler efficiency value is Adaro coal type with boiler efficiency value of 81.31%. There is a difference in the efficiency value of 2.70% between the types of coal with the highest efficiency value and the type of coal with the lowest efficiency value. Keywords: coal, boiler efficiency Kinerja pembangkit listrik tenaga uap ditentukan oleh karakteristik dari bahan bakar. PLTU Suralaya Unit 7 dirancang menggunakan batubara sub-bituminous yang saat ini dipasok dari berbagai daerah, terdapat beberapa jenis batubara yang berbeda nilai kalorinya yaitu Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) 4.921 kCal, Adaro 4.888 kCal, Bukit Asam (BA) 4.756 kCal, MHU 4.941 kCal. Dengan adanya perbedaan jenis batubara yang digunakan maka laju aliran massa batubara akan berbeda sehingga akan berpengaruh pada konsumsi spesifik bahan bakar dan nilai efisiensi boiler. Pada studi kasus dengan menggunakan metode perhitungan secara manual atau metode heat losses, yang menganggap panas yang dihasilkan dari pembakaran batubara di dalam ruang bakar tidak tersalurkan secara keseluruhan dalam proses pembentukan uap, tetapi ada sebagian panas yang hilang. konsumsi bahan bakar batubara akan berubah setiap ada perubahan jenis batubara. Hal ini juga berpengaruh pada konsumsi spesifik bahan bakar begitu juga dengan nilai efisiensi boiler, sehingga akan berpengaruh pada biaya produksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi nilai kalori jenis batubara yang digunakan maka nilai efisiensi boiler akan semakin tinggi, sedangkan laju aliran batubara dan konsumsi spesifik bahan bakar akan semakin turun. Artinya pada beban yang sama, semakin tinggi nilai kalori batubara maka konsumsi batubara semakin rendah. Nilai efisiensi boiler tertinggi pada beban puncak 600 MW yaitu jenis batubara MHU dengan nilai efisiensi sebesar 84,01%, sedangkan nilai efisiensi boiler terendah yaitu jenis batubara Adaro dengan nilai efisiensi boiler sebesar 81,31%. Terdapat perbedaan nilai efisiensi sebesar 2,70% antara jenis batubara dengan nilai efisiensi tertinggi dengan jenis batubara dengan nilai efisiensi terendah. Kata Kunci: batubara, efisiensi boiler
