Abstract

This research is focused on the bullying perception and its relationship with selfregulation among undergraduate students in Mercu Buana University’s Employee Classes. Self-regulation is an individual’s capability to alter behavior in order to achieve desired outcomes in the future. On the basis of self-regulation theory by Miller and Brown (Carey, Neal, & Collins, 2004), the author examines the relationship of self-regulation and bullying perception in a sample of 61 undergraduate students in employee classes and explore the role of bullying perception variable play with respect to self-regulatory variables. Self-regulation was measured by the adaptation version of Short Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SSRQ) and bullying perception was measured by Bullying Perception Scale which is constructed based on perception definition by Myers & Delamater (2011) and bullying definition by Rigby (2007). The results indicated that there was a nonsignificant positive correlation between self-regulation and bullying perception (r = 0,057, p = 0,660). Further result findings on the relationships between variables are discussed in this paper. Keywords: self-regulation, bullying perception, undergraduate students in employee classes Penelitian ini difokuskan pada persepsi bullying dan hubungannya dengan regulasi diri pada mahasiswa kelas karyawan Universitas Mercu Buana Kampus Menteng. Regulasi diri adalah kemampuan individu untuk mengarahkan perilaku untuk mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan di masa yang akan datang. Berdasarkan teori regulasi diri dari Miller & Brown dalam Carey, Neal & Collins (2004), Peneliti menguji hubungan antara regulasi diri dengan persepsi bullying pada 61 mahasiswa program studi S1 Kelas Karyawan Universitas Mercu Buana dan mengkaji hubungan variabel persepsi bullying dengan regulasi diri. Regulasi diri diukur dengan menggunakan skala yang diadaptasi dari Short Self-Regulation Questionnaire dan pengukuran persepsi bullying menggunakan alat ukur yang disusun berdasarkan definisi persepsi dari Myers & Delamater (2011) dan definisi bullying dari Rigby (2007). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang tidak signifikan antara regulasi diri dengan persepsi bullying (r=0,057; p=0,660). Penemuan berkaitan dengan hubungan kedua variabel lebih lanjut dibahas dalam penelitian ini. Kata kunci: regulasi diri, persepsi bullying, mahasiswa kelas karyawan program S1
