Abstract
Symbols are the result of human creation and at the same time show the high quality of human culture in communicating with each other. Satanic symbols are a means of strength used by the flow of dark followers. One community that uses the Satanic symbol is the metal music community. Metal music has always been identified with satanism, especially from the sub-genres of Death Metal and Black Metal. This research was conducted to find out the meaning of the satanic symbol for metal community in Jakarta. This research uses the foundation of the theory of symbolic interaction. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive research. The research method used is the symbolic interaction of George Herbert Mead’s model by conducting in-depth interviews with the speakers. The results of this study discuss the meaning of the symbol of the satanic metal community in Jakarta, namely, the background of being a member of the Jakarta Metal Force community, group communication, community activities, the meaning of the satanic symbol, the community symbol and the meaning of the community symbol of the Jakarta Metal Force. This research concluded that, the Jakarta Metal Force community interpreted the symbol or symbol as a work of art. The Jakarta Metal Force community only focuses on metal music, not with satanic symbols because the Jakarta Metal Force community is not a stream of satanism. According to the Jakarta Metal Force community, it only depends on the perception of each using the satanic symbol as an identity like metal music and using satanic symbols in everyday life. Keywords: Symbol meaning, Satanic, Metal Community Simbol merupakan hasil kreasi manusia dan sekaligus menunjukkan tingginya kualitas budaya manusia dalam berkomunikasi dengan sesamanya. Satanic simbol adalah sarana kekuatan yang digunakan aliran pengikut aliran gelap. Salah satu komunitas yang menggunakan lambang satanic yaitu komunitas musik metal. Sejak dulu musik metal itu selalu diidentikkan dengan satanisme khususnya dari sub genre Death Metal dan Black Metal. Penelitian yang dilakukan ini untuk mengetahui makna lambang satanic bagi komunitas metal di Jakarta. Penelitian ini mengunakan landasan teori interaksi simbolik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tipe penelitian deskriptif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah interaksi simbolik model George Herbert Mead dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam kepada narasumber. Hasil penelitian ini membahas tentang makna lambang satanic komunitas metal di Jakarta yaitu tentang, latarbelakang menjadi anggota komunitas Jakarta Metal Force, komunikasi kelompok, aktivitas komunitas, makna lambang satanic, lambang komunitas dan makna lambang komunitas Jakarta Metal Force. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa, komunitas Jakarta Metal Force memaknai lambang atau simbol itu sebagai karya seni. Komunitas Jakarta Metal Force hanya berfokus pada musik metal, tidak dengan lambang satanic karena komunitas Jakarta Metal Force bukan aliran dari satanisme. Menurut komunitas Jakarta Metal Force itu hanya tergantung persepsi masing-masing saja menggunakan lambang satanic sebagai identitas menyukai musik metal dan mempergunakan lambang satanic dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
