Abstract
At this time, the use of a casing (protector) has spread widely. The casing also includes multifunctional accessories, when used as protective electronic equipment. Casing also helps in keeping air flowing through all components properly. It can also support the appearance of electronic equipment, the types are also varied. Casing is an important supporting component in electronic devices, given its function as a protector of short circuit in electronic components and to protect equipment from collisions and scratches that may occur in electronic devices. As time goes by, there are plenty types of cases. One of them can be seen from the type and basic ingredients. Morphological chart is needed for planning the design based on the possible alternatives. By making a casing for metal crack detector, the material that will be used in the metal crack detector casing is 2018 Alloy Aluminum. After performing drop test analysis using solidworks simulation software, we can determine the safety factor in the casing to determine the level of strength and safety of the casing. Keywords: Casing, Aluminum 2018 Alloy, Drop Test, Safety Factor, Solid works Simulation. Saat ini pemakaian casing (pelindung) sudah semakin luas. Casing pun termasuk aksesoris yang multifungsi, apabila digunakan sebagai pelindung peralatan elektronik. Casing juga membantu dalam menjaga udara mengalir melalui semua komponen dengan baik. Bisa juga sebagai penunjang penampilan peralatan elektronik, jenisnya pun beranekaragam. Casing merupakan komponen pendukung yang penting pada sebuah peralatan elektronik, mengingat fungsinya yaitu sebagai pelindung dari konsleting pada komponen elektronik serta untuk melindungi peralatan dari benturan dan goresan yang mungkin terjadi pada alat elektronik. Seiring perkembangan zaman, telah banyak jenis-jenis dari case itu sendiri. Salah satunya bisa dilihat dari jenis dan bahan dasarnya, Peta Morfologi (Morphological Chart) juga diperlukan untuk merancang desain berdasarkan alternatif yang memungkinkan. Dengan melakukan pembuatan casing untuk metal crack detector maka material yang akan digunakan pada casing metal crack detector yaitu Alumunium 2018 Alloy. Setelah melakukan analisa drop test menggunakan software solidworks simulation maka kita dapat menentukan safety factor pada casing untuk mengetahui tingkat kekuatan dan keamanan casing.
