Abstract

Substrate integrated waveguide is a transmission channel that capable of sending high frequency signals with small losses, but have the capability of integrating many components. Base material substrate integrated waveguide is a dielectric substrate with thickness h and relative permittivity Ɛr. The top and bottom substrate is a layer of metal with small thickness (usually ignored). On the structure of substrate integrated waveguide added two lines of metal cylinder that connects the top layer of metal (patch) with the lower layers (ground plane). In this final project designed antenna working in the frequencies of 12.5 – 12.75 GHz. Antennas are made in the form of mikrostrip with the technique of substrate integrated waveguide that added with cavity backed-slot on the ground plane. The addition of a cavity-backed slot used to increase bandwidth. The material used is Rogers RT/duroid 5880 which has a thickness of 1.575 mm with Ɛr = 2.2. Design and simulation is done using software ANSYS HFSS 2015. While the antenna measurements carried out in the laboratory of electronics and Telecommunications Research Center of LIPI Bandung. In the simulation, antenna's work on a frequency of 12.48 – 12.83 GHz with a bandwidth of 350 MHz and the return loss reached 46.72-dB. While the results of the measurements indicate the antenna's work on a frequency ± 10.4 – 10.5 GHz with a bandwidth of only ± 100 MHz and the return loss only -19.03 dB. Measurement results showed antennas has gain of 4.38 dBi, much smaller compared to the simulated results of 5.47 dBi. This difference may be due to errors in the process of manufacturing, the imperfect soldering process and the errors in retrieval of measurement data. Keywords: substrate integrated waveguide, cavity backed-slot, bandwidth, return loss, gain Substrate integrated waveguide merupakan saluran transmisi yang mampu menghantar sinyal frekuensi tinggi dengan kerugian yang kecil, tetapi memiliki kemampuan mengintegrasi banyak komponen. Bahan dasar substrate integrated waveguide adalah sebuah substare dielektrik dengan ketebalan h dan permitivitas relatif Ɛr. Bagian atas dan bawah substrate adalah sebuah lapisan metal dengan ketebalan yang kecil (biasanya diabaikan). Pada struktur substrate integrated waveguide ditambahkan dua baris silinder metal yang menghubungkan lapisan atas metal (patch) dengan lapisan bawah (ground plane). Pada tugas akhir ini dirancang antena yang bekerja pada frekuensi 12,5 – 12,75 GHz. Antena dibuat dalam bentuk mikrostrip dengan teknik substrate integrated waveguide yang ditambahkan cavity backed-slot pada ground plane. Penambahan cavity backed-slot digunakan untuk meningkatkan bandwidth. Material yang digunakan adalah Rogers RT/duroid 5880 yang memiliki ketebalan 1,575 mm dengan Ɛr = 2,2. Perancangan dan simulasi dilakukan menggunakan software ANSYS HFSS 2015. Sedangkan pengukuran antena dilakukan di Laboratorium Pusat Penelitian Elektronika dan Telekomunikasi LIPI Bandung. Pada simulasi, antena bekerja pada frekuensi 12,48 – 12,83 GHz dengan bandwidth 350 MHz dan return loss mencapai 46,72 dB. Sementara hasil pengukuran menunjukan antena bekerja pada frekuensi ±10,4 – 10,5 GHz dengan bandwidth hanya ±100 MHz dan return loss hanya 19.03 dB. Hasil pengukuran menunjukan antena memiliki gain sebesar 4,38 dBi, jauh lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan hasil simulasi sebesar 5,47 dBi, Perbedaan ini mungkin disebabkan kesalahan dalam proses fabrikasi, proses menyolder yang tidak sempurna serta kesalahan dalam pengambilan data pengukuran.
