Abstract
The automotive industry plays an important role in reducing air pollution and conducting research on alternative energy sources that are energy efficient and environmentally friendly. One of the efforts made by Indonesia to overcome this situation is by holding an Kompetisi Mobil Hemat Energi (KMHE) to develop Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) technology. This study was conducted to determine the efficiency of fuel consumption against variations in RPM and speed. The testing method is carried out with different loading variations, namely using a 500 rpm to 9000 rpm engine speed with a 500 rpm range, and road testing at speeds of 20, 40 and 60 km / hour. From the results of the analysis on theoretical testing, the lowest specific fuel consumption value (bsfc) is 0.41 kg / kWh at engine speed of 3500 - 5500 rpm the maximum fuel consumption efficiency value is obtained at 22.81% at 3500 - 5500 rpm . Whereas in the road test, the lowest fuel consumption is 0.0046 L at a speed of 60 km / h and the maximum fuel consumption value is 0.0085 L at a speed of 40 km / h and 0.337 L at a distance of 37 km with an average speed 40 km / h, variations in speed affect the value of fuel consumption. The power value is at the maximum point of 6.6 kW at 4000-4500 rpm, and the minimum power is 0.2 kW at 500 rpm. The engine torque value at the maximum point is 116.15 N.m at 2000 rpm engine speed. As for the value of efficiency obtained; thermal efficiency.
