Abstract

The welding process at the pipe installation at the Compress Natural Gas (CNG) Project is very much needed for good quality results in accordance with the basic standards of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section VIII Division 1 and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section B31.3. The welding process uses the GTAW and SMAW processes, the pipe material is welded using ASTM A106 Grade B. Carbon Steel material. To find out the results of the right quality it must be carried out the observation process based on data Welding Procedure Specifications and Procedures for Record Qualification and testing Non Destructive Visual Test and Non Destructive Test radiography. From the results of the visual inspection process found accurate indications on different surfaces of joint welding in joint welding using GTAW and SMAW welding of SMAW with 80 A, 24 V and welding speed of about 14 mm / min found welding defects in joint 4, joint 8, and joint 11, at joint 4 there is a porosity welding cable and cluster porosity. On joint 8 there is a welded porosity cable. In combination 11 there are porosity cluster welding cables and wormholes in the Filler Pass and Capping Pass areas. The discharge is rejected and corrected. Keywords: CNG, GTAW & SMAW, NDT Radiografi, Standar ASME, welding defects Proses pengelasan pada instalasi pipa di Compress Natural Gas (CNG) Project sangat dibutuhkan kualitas mutu hasil pengelasan yang baik sesuai berdasarkan kriteria standar American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section VIII Div 1 dan American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section B31.3. Proses pengelasan menggunakan proses GTAW dan SMAW, material pipa yang dilas menggunakan material Baja Karbon ASTM A106 Gr.B. Untuk mengetahui hasil kualitas mutu pengelasan yang baik tersebut maka harus dilaksanakan proses pengamatan berdasarkan data Welding Prosedure Specification dan Procedure Qualification Record serta pengujian Non Destructive Test visual dan Non Destructive Test radiografi. Dari hasil proses inspeksi visual ditemukan adanya indikasi cacat berupa goresan pada permukaan yang berada didekat sekitar sambungan lasan, sedangkan dari hasil inspeksi radiografi pada 3 joint pengelasan menggunakan GTAW dan SMAW pengelasan SMAW dengan 80 A, 24 V dan kecepatan pengelasan sekitar 14 mm/mnt ditemukan cacat las pada joint 4, joint 8, dan joint 11, pada joint 4 terdapat cacat las porosity dan cluster porisity. Pada joint 8 terdapat cacat las porosity. Pada joint 11 terdapat cacat las cluster porosity dan worm hole di area Filler Pass dan Capping Pass sehingga pengelasan tersebut ditolak dan harus diperbaiki menurut standar ASME SECTION VIII DIV 1 dan B31.3.
