Abstract

Transportation in the industrial world is very important that requires precision. The main problem with the apron conveyor is the breakdown of the roller shaft, which results in a production breakdown and an increase in maintenance costs to prevent this from happening again, so it is necessary to redesign the roller shaft. This plan aims to produce a new roller shaft on the appron conveyor that can hold and distribute the load as a powerful, sturdy, safe and efficient iron scrap transport aid so that the production process can run smoothly and efficiently. The process of redesigning the roller shaft in the apron conveyor is carried out by stages that is calculating the maximum load and analyzing the type of material used on the roller shaft before and compared between the strength received and the strength of the roller shaft itself in receiving the load. From the results of the calculations that have been done, the roller shaft is designed to be redesigned both in terms of material that is replacing the material into SCM415 with a yield strength of 415 Mpa and increasing the value of the radius at stepped shaft to 4 mm. After we set the parameters, we recalculate the bending stress, the torsional stress and the load received. Keywords: Apron conveyor, yield strength, shaft, bending stress, torsional stress Transportasi dalam dunia industri sangat penting yang memerlukan ketelitian. Permasalahan utama yang ada pada apron conveyor adalah patahnya poros roller, sehingga mengakibatkan breakdown produksi dan bertambahnya biaya maintenance untuk mencegah hal tersebut terulang kembali maka perlu di lakukan desain ulang terhadap poros roller tersebut. Perencanaan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan poros roller baru pada apron conveyor yang bisa menahan dan menyalurkan beban sebagai alat bantu angkut sekrap besi yang kuat, kokoh, aman, dan efisien sehingga proses produksi dapat berjalan dengan lancar dan effisien. Proses desain ulang poros roller pada appron conveyor ini dilakukan dengan tahapan yaitu menghitung beban maksimum dan menganalisa jenis material yang digunakan pada poros roller yang sebelumnya dan dibandingkan antara kekuatan yang diterima dan kekuatan poros roller itu sendiri dalam menerima beban. Dari hasil perhitungan yang telah dilakukan, poros roller tersebut agar didesign ulang baik dari sisi material yaitu mengganti material menjadi SCM415 dengan nilai yield strength 415 Mpa dan memperbesar nilai dari radius at stepped shaft menjadi 4 mm. Setelah parameter kita tentukan maka kita hitung kembali terhadap tegangan bending, tegangan puntir dan terhadap beban yang diterima.
