Abstract

Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) is one of the electricity generators that utilize water as turbine drives that can generate electricity with the help of generator. Hydrocoil turbines are also known as helical drive power generators because they have helical-coil blades. Hydrocoil turbines are able to work on head and low flow rate. Hydrocoil turbine is a reaction turbine, therefore draft tube can be added to the turbine output side. Draft Tube is useful to enlarge the value of the head because the draft tube is able to restore the flow of water flow through it. In addition, the draft tube will also maximize the potential of the turbine. This research focused on the effect of adding draft tube on hydrocoil turbine to its performance by using CFD method with ANSYS CFX 15. The analysis was done on experiment of speed of 100 rpm to 1900 rpm. Based on the data obtained from the simulation that has been run the best performance is at 1100 rpm rotation with efficiency value 93,54%. Keywords: Hydrocoil Turbine, Draft Tube, Turbine Performation, CFD Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Mikro Hidro (PLTMH) adalah salah satu pembangkit listik yang memanfaatkan air sebagai penggerak turbin yang bisa menghasilkan listrik dengan bantuan generator. Turbin hidrocoil juga dikenal sebagai helical drive power generator karena turbin tersebut memiliki sudu yang berbentuk helical coil. Turbin hidrocoil mampu bekerja pada head dan laju alir yang rendah. Turbin hidrocoil adalah turbin reaksi (reaction turbine), oleh karenanya dapat ditambahkan draft tube di sisi keluaran turbin tersebut. Draft Tube ini berguna untuk memperbesar nilai head karena draft tube mampu memulihkan tekanan aliran air yang melewatinya. Selain itu, draft tube juga akan memaksimalkan potensi turbin. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada pengaruh penambahan draft tube pada turbin hidrocoil terhadap performasinya dengan menggunakan metode CFD dengan ANSYS CFX 15. Analisis dilakukan pada percobaan kecepatan 100 rpm sampai 1900 rpm. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari simulasi yang sudah dijalankan performasi terbaik adalah pada putaran 1100 rpm dengan nilai efesiensi 93,54%.
