Abstract
PT XYZ is a manufacturing company engaged in consumer goods. PT XYZ is trying to make improvements in terms of production, this is because there is still a scrap of each production result. Percentage of average scrap during January - December 2017 is 1.29% versus company target is 0.55%. The purpose of this research is to find out the factors that causing the production has huge amount of scrap, provide improvement suggestions and compare the results between before and after the improvement using the DMAIC method so that the factors causing the high number of scrap are obtained when the process of replacing the product variant due to the machine features that are not installed like a global standard. So the proposed improvements can be made by adding a tool which called pigging and changing the process of replacing the product variant. By applying the proposed improvements and controls, the proposal can be effective and efficient and can reduce the scrap and increase the sigma value during May - June 2018 period by 0.34% and 4.55. Keywords: DMAIC, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), sigma value PT XYZ merupakan sebuah perusahnan manufacturing yang bergerak dibidang consumer goods. PT XYZ beusaha melakukan pembenahan dalam hal produksi, hal ini dikarenakan masih adanya Scrap dari setiap hasil produksi. Scrap yang dihasilkan selama bulan Januari – Desember 2017 sebesar 1,29% dari target perushaan sebesar 0,55. Tujuna dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari factor penyebab banyaknya scrap yang dihasilkan dari proses produksi, memberikan usulan perbaikan serta membandingkan hasil antara sebelum dan sesudah perbaikan menggunakan metode DMAIC sehingga didapatkan faktor penyebab tingginya jumlah scrap yaitu ketika proses penggantian varian produk dikarenakn terdapat fitur mesin yang tidak terpasang seperti global standar. Sehingga usulan perbaikan yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan menambahkan alat berupa pigging dan merubah proses penggantian varian produk. Dengan menerapkan usulan perbaikan dan control yang ada, usulan tersebut dapat berjalan efektif dan efisien sehingga dapat menurunkan jumlah scrap pada proses produksi pelembut pakaian dan meningkatkan nilai sigma selama periode Mei – Juni 2018 sebesar 0,34 % dan 4,55.
