Abstract

Suralaya 8 power plant as a 1x 625 MW power plant located in Suralaya Village, Cilegon City has 2 Primary Air Fan A & B side Fuel System as a coal carrier air supply. Primary air fan (PAF) serves as primary air producer which is used as air transporting coal powder from pulverizer to burner to be burned in furnace boiler as well as coal dryer. On March 23, 2018 one of the blades on the primary water fan was broken, thus causing the overall breakdown of the blade surface due to the high blade spin during operation. Blade material used is aluminum 7 series that has not been tested its resistance characteristics, different from OEM material from china that is aluminum series 2. The process of making blade from local and original aluminum manufacturer is by casting method. This study aims to analyze the cause of failure or damage of Primary Air Fan blade by knowing the characteristics of aluminum blade material of series 2 and 7 by looking at the result of laboratory test, so it can be studied whether the local 7 series aluminum blade material can withstand the operating condition than the aluminum material of series 2 which has been tested endurance. This study also provides a solution to the next manufacturing method with full machining strategy. The analysis is to know the material characteristics by comparing the result of laboratory test between the two materials, such as tensile test result, hardness, micro structure, radiography and blade visual test and calculate the centripetal force acting on the blade material to know its durability at the time of operation. To calculate the losses to be known value, the data taken comes from the data generating units PLTU suralaya unit 8 and PLN PUSHARLIS. The result of the analysis shows that the failure of primary air fan operation is caused by mistake in choosing the local PA fan blade material of Al Series 7 and the poor casting manufacturing process is proven from the calculation of working force voltage, tensile test result, different microstructure far from the original material test result Al series 2 with reference standard ASTM B209M. Keywords: blade, primary air fan, aluminium PLTU Suralaya 8 sebagai pembangkit berkapasitas 1x 625 MW yang terletak di Kelurahan Suralaya, Kota Cilegon memiliki 2 Buah sistem Primary Air Fan sisi A&B sebagai penyuplai udara pembawa bahan bakar batu bara. Primary air fan (PAF) berfungsi sebagai penghasil udara primer yang digunakan sebagai udara pengangkut serbuk batubara dari pulverizer menuju burner untuk dibakar di furnace boiler sekaligus sebagai pengering batubara. Pada tanggal 23 maret 2018 salah satu blade pada primary air fan patah, sehingga menyebabkan kerusakan keseluruhan permukaan sudu akibat dari putaran tinggi blade saat beroperasi. Material blade yang digunakan adalah aluminium seri 7 yang belum teruji karakteristik ketahanannya, berbeda dengan material OEM dari china yaitu aluminium seri 2. Proses pembuatan blade dari alumunium lokal dan original pabrikan adalah dengan metode casting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penyebab terjadinya kegagalan atau kerusakan blade Primary Air Fan dengan mengetahui karakteristik material blade aluminium seri 2 dan 7 dengan melihat hasil uji laboratorium, sehingga dapat dikaji apakah material blade lokal aluminium seri 7 dapat bertahan terhadap kondisi operasi dibandingkan material aluminium seri 2 yang sudah teruji ketahanannya. Penelitian ini juga memberikan solusi untuk metode pembuatan selanjutnya dengan strategi full machining. Analisis yang dilakukan yaitu untuk mengetahui karakteristik material dengan membandingkan hasil uji laboraturium antara kedua material, diantaranya hasil uji tarik, kekerasan, struktur mikro, radiography dan uji visual blade dan menghitung gaya sentripetal yang bekerja pada material blade tersebut untuk diketahui ketahanannya pada saat operasi. Untuk menghitung kerugian agar diketahui nilainya, data yang diambil bersumber dari data unit pembangkit PLTU suralaya unit 8 dan PLN PUSHARLIS. Hasil analisis didapatkan kegagalan operasi primary air fan disebabkan kesalahan dalam memilih material blade PA fan lokal Al seri 7 dan proses manufaktur casting yang kurang baik dibuktikan dari perhitungan tegangan gaya yang bekerja, hasil uji tarik, struktur mikro yang berbeda jauh dari pada hasil uji material original Al seri 2 dengan acuan standar ASTM B209M.
