Abstract

Perkembangan Asean ditandai dengan semakin pentingnya posisi ASEAN bagi dunia internasional. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya negara yang diakreditasi ke ASEAN, meningkatnya misi khusus untuk ASEAN, dan semakin meningkatnya jumlah pertemuan ASEAN dengan sekitar 1300 pertemuan dalam satu tahun. Sebagai konsekuensi, Gedung ASEAN Secretariat yang sekarang berusia 33 tahun tidak lagi memadai. Mencermati hal tersebut dan sejalan dengan komitmen Pemerintah Republik Indonesia untuk mendukung penguatan Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Presiden Republik Indonesia telah menyetujui penggunaan gedung eks Kantor Walikota Jakarta Selatan oleh Sekretariat ASEAN. Konsep yang digunakan dalam perancangan gedung ASEAN Secretariat adalah konsep arsitektur ikonik dan berkelanjutan, yaitu menjadikan Gedung ASEAN Secretariat menjadi point of interest dan menjadikannya sebagai ikon dari kawasan tersebut dan konsep mempertahankan sumber daya alam agar bertahan lebih lama, yang dikaitkan dengan umur potensi vital sumber daya alam dan lingkungan ekologis manusia, seperti sistem iklim, sistem pertanian, industri, kehutanan, dan arsitektur.Asean development is characterized by the growing importance of ASEAN's position for the international world. This is evidenced by the increase in the country accredited to ASEAN, increased special mission to ASEAN, and the increasing number of meetings of ASEAN by 1300 meetings a year. As a consequence, the ASEAN Secretariat building is now 33 years old and no longer adequate. Observing that in line with the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to support the strengthening of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the President of the Republic of Indonesia has approved the use of the building of former South Jakarta Mayor Office by the ASEAN Secretariat. The concept used in the design of building the ASEAN Secretariat is an architectural concept iconic and sustainable, which makes building the ASEAN Secretariat became a point of interest and make it as an icon of the region and the concept of maintaining natural resources to last longer, which is associated with the age of the potential of a vital resource natural and human ecological environment, such as climate system, the system of agriculture, industry, forestry, and architecture.
