Abstract

Palm oil plantation in East Kalimantan Province started to develop since the year 1982/1983 pattern PIR-BUN, by PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XIII. As a priority sector for the excellent and the economy in Berau Regency, a palm oil plantation development is rapid enough, especially since the management of oil palm development pattern with the PIR-Swadaya in the 1990s. Development of oil palm plantation next to the increase economic community, also absorb the labor migrants and local residents. Employment in oil palm plantations are expected to be increased in accordance with the broad area of the planned local government. Employment opportunities can be expanded because of the activities derived from the production of oil palm plantations, such as industry, trade and other business related This paper is to test whether a business or an oil palm plantation and processing factory in the area of East Kalimantan, especially in the Berau regency have any prospect of profitable business operation and reasonable The indicators used is the feasibility of the Payback Period (PP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Profitabilty Index (PI). In addition to the feasibility of the business also examined ratio and sensitivity analysis. Management also considered the risks in this business so that failure does not occur. From planning the business for 10 years, appeared to give business prospects of profitable after considering financial aspects. Perkebunan kelapa sawit di Provinsi Kalimantan Timur mulai berkembang sejak tahun 1982/1983 dengan pola PIR-BUN, oleh PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XIII. Sebagai sektor unggulan dan prioritas bagi perekonomian di Kabupaten Berau, perkebunan kelapa sawit mengalami perkembangan yang cukup pesat terutama sejak dikembangkannya pengelolaan kelapa sawit dengan pola PIR- Swadaya pada tahun 1990-an. Pengembangan perkebunan kelapa sawit disamping meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat, juga menyerap tenaga kerja baik pendatang maupun penduduk setempat. Penyerapan tenaga kerja di perkebunan kelapa sawit diharapkan akan meningkat sesuai dengan perkembangan areal luas perkebunan yang direncanakan pemerintah daerah. Kesempatan kerja dapat diperluas karena adanya kegiatan turunan dari hasil produksi kebun kelapa sawit seperti industri pengolahan, perdagangan dan usaha lain yang berkaitan. Karya akhir untuk menguji apakah usaha atau perkebunan kelapa sawit serta pabrik pengolahannya didaerah Kalimantan Timur khususnya di Kabupaten Berau mempunyai prospek bisnis yang menguntungkan dan layak secara ekonomis. Indikator – indikator kelayakan yang digunakan adalah Payback Period (PP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate Of Return (IRR) dan Profitabilty Index (PI). Selain itu kelayakan bisnis dikajipula dengan analisa sensitivitas dan rasio. Manajemen resiko juga dipertimbangkan dalam bisnis ini agar tidak terjadi kegagalan. Dari perencanaan bisnis tersebut selama 10 tahun, ternyata memberikan prospek bisnis yang menguntungkan setelah memperhatikan aspek keuangan.
