Abstract

The world of information communication technology in Indonesia now entering a new phase with the presence of 3G technology, UMTS (3rd Generation Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) or commonly known as WCDMA. The development of WCDMA technology is expected to be able to accommodate a variety of services high-speed data packet to the existing network. Internet Service GPRS and 3G in particular provides a significant burden to the SGSN. This is because the use of bandwidth has increased dramatically in a short span of time. SGSN that currently operates can be said to have a maximum operating and overload sometimes even causing the slow rate of customer data packet transmission. To deal with this problem then the solution was made by way of technology to baypass payload process that took place in the SGSN to the GGSN directly. This technology is called the "Direct Tunnel". Because Direct Tunnel technology to operate only on 3G networks is referred to as 3G Direct Tunnel (3GDT). In this final task will be explained about the solution 3G Direct Tunnel technology which is limited to a comparison of KPI (Key Performance Indicators) such as the PDP Success Rate and data throughput after implementation. Process of focusing on the PT. Indosat Tbk Surabaya which is a trial in this 3GDT technology. From the results of testing and analysis system will provide a very significant impact on the SGSN. This was shown in the table Summary of DT Throughput (Mbps) that the traffic that passes through the SGSN, thereby decreasing the internet service in particular data packet can be moved quickly according to customer demand with the added value percentage improvement in the quantity and expected not only in Surabaya Indosat course, but the system can be implemented in Indosat throughout Indonesia. Dunia teknologi komunikasi informasi di Indonesia sekarang ini memasuki babak baru dengan kehadiran teknologi 3G UMTS (3rd Generation Universal Mobile Telecomunication System) atau yang lebih dikenal dengan WCDMA. Perkembangan teknologi WCDMA diharapkan mampu mengakomodasi berbagai macam layanan paket data berkecepatan tinggi pada jaringan yang telah ada. Layanan Internet khususnya GPRS dan 3G tersebut memberikan beban yang signifikan terhadap SGSN. Hal ini dikarenakan pemakaian bandwidth meningkat secara dramatis dalam rentang waktu yang singkat. SGSN yang beroperasi saat ini dapat dikatakan sudah beroperasi secara maksimum bahkan terkadang overload yang menyebabkan lambatnya laju pengiriman paket data pelanggan. Untuk menangani masalah ini maka dibuatlah solusi teknologi dengan cara membaypass proses payload yang berlangsung di SGSN langsung ke arah GGSN. Teknologi ini disebut dengan “Direct Tunnel”. Karena teknologi Direct Tunnel dioperasikan hanya pada jaringan 3G maka disebut dengan istilah 3G Direct Tunnel (3GDT). Pada tugas akhir ini akan dijelaskan mengenai solusi teknologi 3G Direct Tunnel yang dibatasi pada perbandingan KPI (Key Performance Indicators) seperti PDP Success Rate dan data throughput setelah implementasi. Proses pengerjaan difokuskan di PT. Indosat Surabaya Tbk yang merupakan trial dalam penerapan teknologi 3GDT ini. Dari hasil pengujian sistem dan analisa akan memberikan dampak yang sangat signifikan pada SGSN. Hal ini terlihat pada tabel Summary of DT Throughput (Mbps) bahwa trafik yang dilalui oleh SGSN menurun drastis sehingga layanan internet khususnya paket data dapat berjalan dengan cepat sesuai dengan permintaan pelanggan dengan nilai tambah perbaikan dalam kuantitas prosentase dan diharapkan tidak hanya di Indosat Surabaya saja, tetapi sistem Direct Tunnel dapat di implementasikan di Indosat seluruh Indonesia.
