Abstract
ABSTRACT The research purpose is to analyze bankruptcy potential of cigarette company in Indonesia which use Altman (Z-Score) model time series and cross sectional. The objects of research are cigarette company in Indonesia which are listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange for 2004-2007. The companies are PT. Gudang Garam Tbk, and PT. Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna, Tbk. The result of the research, the two companies which are go public in Indonesian Stock Exchange for four years tend at non bankrupt (Z-Score>2,90). The evidence is the average of Z-Score in PT HM Sampoerna, Tbk. at non bankrupt category 3.91 just PT Gudang Garam, Tbk. at grey area which its the average of Z-Score is 2.80. Based on the result of the research, it is suggested for the company to increase the sale volume by making good quality product, make liabilities planning, make tight to credit policy, make budgeting and control the cost in order to the company doesn’t get bankrupt.
