Abstract

PT. Nestle Indonesia Cikupa Factory is one of the major companies engaged in the confectionary production. One of variety of products that manufactured here is Fox’s loaf candy 4,5 gram fruit natural color. One of the problem that often occur in Fox’s production line is related with candy net weight, below or above standart. Impact of this problem is rate of variability Fox’s loaf candy 4,5 gram fruit natural color become high.This problem is related with compliance aspect as legal aspect and have contribute to the level of losses in the company. Goal of this research is to analyze how much losses that resulting from quality of net weight deviations andit financial impact to the company and proposed improvement plan to the root cause of the problem using DMAIC method. On define step, define the CTQ is the important focus to find out the willingness of consumers. Problem analyze start on measure step to define index of process capability by calculating the value of Cp, Cpk, Z value, sigma level, and DPMO. Further analysis is conducted on analyse step to find root cause of the problem using cause effect diagram and 5 whys analysis to find the factor that related with CTQ. On improve step, define the improvement plan is the most important thing to do. On control step, focus things in this step is ensure the improvement working well and sustainability. The conclusion of this research is overall of process capability is poor measured by value of Cpk which is the value of Cpk from each process < 1,3. It means defect of the products is still large, The company must act improvement plan immediately to reduce defect rate and improve the quality of the product.
