Abstract

Data processing is a routine process within an organization that should be well planned to produce a precise information. However, inventory data processing of laboratory on the Faculty of Computer Science, Mercubuana University still done manually using an assistance from data processing application such as Microsoft Office Excell. The problems that arise from the process done manually are often lead to delays in the inventorying process also cause the limitations of report delivery. Ideally, the report should be readily accessible to support decision making for maintenance actions and the laboratory uses. Utilizing a computerized system is an attempt to build a good data processing system. In line with this, using the web and internet technology that evolving rapidly nowadays, can be maximized to overcome the existing problems by building a web-based inventory application. Constructed using Waterfall model with PHP programming language and utilize MySQL as the database, this application is expected to ease the process of laboratory inventorying and generate the accurate and easily accessible informations. Keywords: Inventory, process models Waterfall, PHP and MySQL Pengolahan data adalah proses rutin dalam suatu organisasi yang harus direncanakan dengan baik untuk menghasilkan informasi yang akurat. Namun, pengolahan data inventaris laboratorium di Fakultas Ilmu Komputer, Universitas Mercu Buana masih dilakukan secara manual menggunakan bantuan sebuah aplikasi pengolahan data seperti Microsoft Office Excel. Permasalahan yang timbul dari proses yang dilakukan secara manual tersebut seringkali menyebabkan keterlambatan proses inventarisasi dan menyebabkan keterbatasan penyampaian laporan. Idealnya, laporan tersebut harus mudah diakses untuk mendukung pengambilan keputusan atas tindakan pemeliharaan dan penggunaan laboratorium. Memanfaatkan sistem komputerisasi merupakan salah satu upaya untuk membangun sistem pengolahan data yang baik. Sejalan dengan ini, pemanfaatan teknologi web dan internet yang berkembang pesat saat ini, bisa dimaksimalkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang ada, dengan membangun sebuah sistem inventarisasi laboratorium berbasis web. Dibangun menggunakan model air terjun dengan bahasa pemrograman PHP dan memanfaatkan MySQL sebagai basis data, aplikasi ini diharapkan dapat mempermudah proses Inventarisasi laboratorium dan menghasilkan informasi yang akurat juga mudah diakses.
