Abstract
In order to create an efficiency in web communication therefore file size must be compressed by server before sending it back to client as a response to client’s request because less size makes web browser works better. Besides, compressing data web server must be able to serve multi-client (more than one client in one time).Gzip compression is the compression which used for Apajeh Ponco web server to compress resource. Gzip compression chosen because almost all of web browser are able to receive Gzip compressed file. In addition to server can receive request from web browser and response to it, so it uses component Windows Socket (Winsock). The result from testing, web server Apajeh Ponco is able to serve multi-client and compress every resource which requested by client but not able to show PHP script. Gzip compression is more suitable for web pages (.html and .php), and uncompressed files. If the requested resource is in a compressed format then web server Apajeh Ponco produces a low ratio. Thus, Gzip is not suitable for lossy compressed files (such as jpeg for images, mp3 for audio and 3gp for video ). Keywords : Web Server, Gzip Compression, Windows Socket (Winsock). Agar tercipta suatu efisiensi dalam komunikasi dalam web maka ukuran file yang diminta harus dimampatkan oleh server sebelum mengirimkan kembali ke tanggapan ke klien karena semakin kecil ukuran akan ringan kinerja dari peramban selain dapat melakukan pemampatan server juga haruslah mampu melayani multi-klien. Pemampatan Gzip adalah pemampatan yang digunakan untuk server web Apajeh Ponco sebagai pemampatan sumber daya. Pemampatan Gzip dipilih dikarenakan hampir semua peramban web dapat menerima sumber daya yang dimampatkan dengan Gzip Agar server web Apajeh Ponco mampu menerima permintaan dan mengirmkan tanggapan dari dan ke peramban maka server web menggunakan komponen Windows Socket (Winsock). Dari hasil yang didapatkan aplikasi server web Apajeh Ponco ini mampu melayani multi-klien dan memampatkan sumberdaya yang diminta oleh klien tetapi belum mampu mendukung script PHP. Pemampatan Gzip lebih sesuai untuk terhadap berkas halaman web (.html dan .php) dan berkas-berkas file yang tidak termampatkan. Apabila sumber daya yang diminta sudah dalam format yang termampatkan maka menghasilkan rasio yang rendah sehingga disimpulkan Gzip tidak mampu memampatkan dengan baik file yang sudah termampatkan dengan pemampatan lossy (seperti jpeg untuk gambar, mp3 untuk audio dan 3gp untuk video).
