Abstract
The development of telecommunication, media and information has taken the important part in the management of clean water revolution, so that we need mobile computing device as new process in reading the meter of water which is supplied both in the people's house and buildings. Kind of mobile computing device that can be used as like cellular phone, PDAs (Personal Digital Assistant), smart phone and tablet pc. By using mobile computing device, we can build Mobile Meter Reading as a new application to change the manual way into the automatic on. So it can help them to work easier and faster in getting the accurate data. This system is also completed by barcode system, which use the camera to take the evidence or document of the meter of the water, houses, and any buildings. Keywords: Mobile Computing Devices, Water Meters, Barcode Perkembangan telekomunikasi, media dan informatika berperan penting dalam revolusi pengelolaan air bersih, sehingga perlu adanya proses pembacaan meterair yang dipasok kerumah-rumah warga atau pun gedung-gedung dengan menggunakan mobile barcode scanner atau biasa dikenal dengan PDT (Portable Data Terminal), beberapa contoh mobile barcode scanner yang dapat digunakan yaitu handphone, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), smart phone, dan tablet pc. Salah satu contoh yang sering ditemui adalah proses pencatatan meter air yang sebagian besar masih dilakukan secara manual oleh seorang pencatat meter. Dengan adanya mobilebarcode scanner maka dapat dibangun sebuah aplikasi Mobile Meter Reading untuk mengotomatisasikan itu semua. Sehingga seorang pencatat meter dapat melakukan pekerjaannya menjadi lebih mudah, cepat dan tentunya data yang dihasilkan lebih akurat, sistem ini dilengkapi dengan sistem pembacaan barcode, pengambilan gambar menggunakan kamera sebagai bukti dokumentasi meter air, kondisi rumah atau gedung yang didatangi.
