Abstract

The finishing process in the garment industry still experiences various forms of waste that increase processing time and reduce production efficiency. This study aims to identify the existing waste, analyze its root causes, and propose improvement strategies using the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methods. The research was conducted through direct observation, interviews, documentation, and process time measurements. Current State Value Stream Mapping was used to identify waste, the Fishbone Diagram was employed to analyze root causes, FMEA was applied to determine improvement priorities based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN), and Future State Value Stream Mapping was developed to design a more efficient production process. The results indicate that the finishing process contains five categories of waste, namely motion, inventory, transportation, waiting, and defects, with defects, waiting, and inventory contributing the highest risk based on the RPN values. Based on the FMEA results, the proposed improvements include the implementation of First in First Out (FIFO), Work in Process (WIP) control, QC Checklists, Visual Standards, the use of Automatic Trolleys, and an Overhead Garment Conveyor System. The proposed improvements successfully reduced the total processing time from 333 seconds to 258 seconds, representing a 22.52% reduction, and increased the Value Added Ratio from 43% to 65%, resulting in a more efficient finishing process. Proses finishing pada perusahaan garmen masih mengalami pemborosan (waste) yang menyebabkan waktu proses menjadi lebih lama dan menurunkan efisiensi produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi waste yang terjadi, menganalisis penyebabnya, serta memberikan usulan perbaikan menggunakan metode Value Stream Mapping (VSM) dan Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Penelitian dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan pengukuran waktu proses. Current State Value Stream Mapping digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi waste, Fishbone Diagram untuk menganalisis akar penyebab, FMEA untuk menentukan prioritas perbaikan berdasarkan nilai Risk Priority Number (RPN), serta Future State Value Stream Mapping untuk merancang kondisi proses yang lebih efisien. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses finishing mengandung lima kategori waste, yaitu motion, inventory, transportation, waiting, dan defect, dengan defect, waiting, dan inventory sebagai penyumbang risiko tertinggi berdasarkan nilai RPN. Berdasarkan hasil FMEA, usulan perbaikan meliputi penerapan FIFO, pengendalian Work in Process (WIP), QC Checklist, Visual Standard, penggunaan Automatic Trolley, dan Overhead Garment Conveyor System. Usulan perbaikan tersebut mampu menurunkan total waktu proses dari 333 detik menjadi 258 detik atau sebesar 22,52%, serta meningkatkan Value Added Ratio dari 43% menjadi 65%, sehingga proses finishing menjadi lebih efisien.
