Abstract
This study aims to develop a shutter rack based on Karakuri principles as a material handling system for finished-good boxes in the speedometer packing process, with the intention of improving operator efficiency. The research begins with identifying production needs, followed by designing the system using the QC 7 TOOLS and VDI 2221 method. Additional steps include structural strength analysis, calculation of box travel speed and total travel time, as well as finite element analysis (FEA) to validate the mechanical performance of the structure.The final design features a mechanically operated Karakuri shutter rack with a two-level vertical layout. Structural analysis indicates that an inclination angle of 10°, combined with a track length of 3.2 meters and a total height of 1.5 meters, provides optimal functionality. With a box load of 5 kilograms, the structure experiences a stress value of 5.38 N/mm². The frame is constructed using 6061-T6 aluminum, which has a yield strength of 275 N/mm², confirming that the structure can safely withstand operational loads. FEA simulations conducted in SOLIDWORKS show a maximum deformation of 0.78 mm and a strain value of 5.5 × 10⁻⁵, supporting the results of the analytical calculations. From the mathematical analysis, the box velocity increases significantly from an initial speed of 1.26 m/s to 4.84 m/s at the end of the track, reducing travel time from 11.27 seconds to 3.1 seconds. Implementation of the Karakuri shutter rack in the packing area also leads to an improvement in the overall cycle time. Initially, producing one unit required 78.2 seconds. After applying the improved design, the cycle time decreases to 73.7 seconds, resulting in a 6.53% increase in packing efficiency. Keywords : Karakuri, Shutter Rack, Metode VDI 2221, QC 7 TOOLS, Travel Time, Structure Analysis Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang shutter rack dengan prinsip karakuri sebagai sistem material handling untuk box finish good pada proses packing speedometer untuk meningkatkan efisiensi kerja operator. Metodologi penelitian meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan produksi, perancangan menggunakan metode QC 7 TOOLS dan VDI 2221, analisis kekuatan struktur, perhitungan kecepatan laju box, perhitungan total waktu tempuh, serta simulasi finite element analysis (FEA) sebagai validasi perhitungan mekanis. Hasil perancangan menghasilkan sistem karakuri dengan struktur dua tumpuk vertikal yang bekerja secara mekanis. Analisis struktur menunjukkan sudut kemiringan ideal sebesar 10° dengan panjang lintasan 3,2 m dan tinggi total 1,5 m. Dengan beban box 5 kg, tegangan yang terjadi pada struktur adalah 5,38 N/mm2 . Material yang digunakan pada struktur ialah alumunium 6061-T6 dengan yield strength sebesar 275 N/mm2 . Hal ini menyimpulkan bahwa struktur mampu menahan beban yang akan terjadi pada saat proses packing. Sementara itu dari hasil analisa FEA pada SOLIDWORKS, didapati bahwa deformasi maksimal yang terjadi adalah 0,78mm dan juga regangan berada pada 5,5 x 10-5 .
