Abstract

The curing process is a heating stage where the temperature must be maintained consistently because significant temperature changes can reduce the effectiveness of the maturation process and have a negative impact on the final quality of the material. However, in reality the curing process does not always get good results because the machine does not work optimally, causing Under Cure (UC) a condition where the temperature during the process does not match the specified specifications. This problem is influenced by various causes such as platen temperature drop, Start up, air drop, PLN drop, oil pump drop, and shaping drop. The problem of platen temperature drop is the largest contributor in the last 3 months as much as 87.88% or 1015 pcs of tires, especially on the HTC.02.TC.01 machine as the highest contributor of 68 existing machines amounting to 42 pcs of tires. This research aims to reduce the platen drop temperature defect by designing a PLC-based temperature control system using Omron E5CC to reduce the platen drop defect. This system uses a Mitsubishi PLC that will receive signals from the Omron E5CC component where the Omron E5CC will convert the signal from the Thermocouple in the form of resistance into a digital signal and will be sent to the PLC. This system will produce output from the PLC in the form of relay or solenoid control to move actuators such as Cylinder, piston valve, warning light, or buzzer. The results of this test show that the temperature display results on the Omron E5CC with the actual temperature obtained a % Error of 0.905% with an accuracy value of the temperature reading accuracy of the Omron E5CC of 99.09%. As well as manual and auto functional testing are all as expected. In addition, defects in 3 months after the study experienced a significant decrease from 42 pcs of tires to 2 pcs of tires in the period of September to November 2025. Therefore, this study shows that the addition of a PLC-based temperature control system using the Omron E5CC is running well. Keywords: Curing, Defect, Error proofing, Omron E5CC Proses curing merupakan tahap pemanasan dimana suhu harus dijaga secara konsisten karena perubahan suhu yang signifikan dapat menurunkan efektivitas proses pematangan dan berdampak negatif pada kualitas akhir material. Namun pada kenyataannya proses curing tidak selalu mendapatkan hasil yang baik dikarenakan mesin tidak bekerja secara optimal sehingga menyebabkan Under Cure (UC) kondisi dimana suhu pada saat proses tidak sesuai dengan spesifikasi yang telah ditentukan. Masalah ini dipengaruhi oleh berbagai macam penyebab seperti suhu platen drop , Start up, air drop, PLN drop, oil pump drop, dan shapping drop. Masalah suhu platen drop menjadi penyumbang terbanyak dalam 3 bulan terakhir sebanyak 87,88 % atau 1015 pcs ban (tire) terutama pada mesin HTC.02.TC.01 sebagai penyumbang tertinggi dari 68 mesin yang ada sebesar 42 pcs ban (tire). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi defect suhu platen drop tersebut dengan merancang sistem kontrol suhu berbasis PLC dengan menggunakan Omron E5CC guna mengurangi defect platen drop. Sistem ini menggunakan PLC Mitsubishi yang akan menerima sinyal dari komponen Omron E5CC dimana Omron E5CC ini akan mengonversi sinyal dari Thermocouple berupa hambatan kedalam sinyal digital dan akan dikirimkan ke PLC. Sistem ini akan menghasilkan output dari PLC berupa pengendalian relay maupun solenoid guna menggerakan aktuator seperti Cylinder, piston valve, warning light, maupun buzzer. Hasil pengujian ini menunjukan Hasil tampilan suhu pada Omron E5CC dengan suhu aktual didapatkan % Error sebesar 0.905% dengan nilai akurasi ketepatan pembacaan suhu dari Omron E5CC sebesar 99.09%. Serta pengujian fungsional manual maupun auto semua sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Selain itu, defect dalam 3 bulan setelah penelitian mengalami penurunan yang signifikan dari 42 pcs ban (tire) menjadi 2 pcs ban dalam periode september s/d november 2025. Maka dari itu penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa penambahan sistem kontrol suhu berbasis PLC dengan menggunakan Omron E5CC berjalan dengan baik. Kata Kunci: Curing, Defect, Error proofing, Omron E5CC
