Abstract

The braking system is a very important component in passenger safety. This is because the brakes / brakes function to reduce the rotation speed on the vehicle's wheels so that the vehicle's rate becomes stable and controlled, as a result of an uncontrolled vehicle certainly very dangerous for vehicle passengers. Brake pad is a component that is often forgotten condition. Usually new vehicle owners check the brake pad when it rings. Even though the brake pad sounds, there is a problem, and it might be too late to just replace the brake pad. On the basis of the above, the conducted a study of preventive maintenance on the Isuzu Panther brake pad by measuring dynamic characteristics using the frequency response function (FRF), and doing variations in the disc brake rotation (450, 600, and 750 Rpm) with braking force variations by providing the load on the brake lever as for the amount of load given is 20 N, 40 N, and 60 N. The result with the bump test method shows that the middle diameter has more frequency because the position of the middle diameter of the disc is more often in contact with the canvas compared to the outer diameter. While the results when running position looks broken disc graph with a new canvas is higher because the damaged disc has an uneven surface and allows more vibration if rubbing against a new brake pad that is still thick. Keywords: Disc Brake, Brake Pad, Frequency Response Function (FRF), Rotation, Braking Force Sistem pengereman merupakan komponen yang sangat penting dalam keselamatan penumpang. Hal ini dikarenakan brake/rem berfungsi untuk mengurangi kecepatan putaran pada roda kendaraan sehingga laju kendaraan menjadi stabil dan terkendali, akibat dari kendaraan yang tidak terkendali tentu sangat berbahaya bagi penumpang kendaraan. Kanvas rem merupakan komponen yang sering terlupakan kondisinya. Biasanya pemilik kendaraan baru mengecek kampas rem saat berbunyi. Kampas rem berbunyi menandakan ada permasalahan, dan mungkin sudah terlambat untuk sekedar mengganti kampas rem saja. Atas dasar tersebut diatas dilakukan penelitian mengenai preventive maintenance pada kampas rem isuzu panther dengan melakukan pengukuran karakteristik dinamik menggunakan fungsi respon frekuensi (FRF), dan melakukan variasi putaran disc brake (450, 600, dan 750 Rpm) dengan variasi gaya pengereman dengan memberikan beban pada tuas rem adapun besarnya beban yang diberikan adalah 20 N, 40 N, dan 60 N. Hasilnya dengan metode bump test terlihat diameter tengah memiliki frekuensi yang lebih banyak dikarenakan posisi dimeter tengah disc lebih sering bersentuhan dengan kampas rem dibandingkan dengan diameter luar. Sedangkan hasil saat posisi running terlihat grafik disc rusak dengan kampas baru lebih tinggi hal tersebut dikarenakan disc rusak memiliki permukaan yang tidak rata dan memungkinkan menimbulkan getaran yang lebih jika bergesekkan dengan kampas baru yang masih tebal.
