Abstract

The gumlining buffing process is a process where the grinding stone as a buffing device that rotates above Gumlining uses an electric motor and there is a buffing table that flanks two Gumlining underneath which is moved according to the direction forward and backward using human power so that the flatness of the Gumlining surface is very influential and potentially causing an Open Splice Defect. This research aims to get the Gumlining buffing results to be more stable or flat, and provide a proposal to modify the Gumlining buffing system which is done automatically. This research was carried out in the gumlining buffing process using the research object, gumlining (a component of the Splicing Machine which functions as a Green Stick Tube foundation during the splice process). Modification of the gumlining buffing system uses an electric motor as a driving force for the gumlining buffing table, the inverter as a regulator of electric motor speed and proximity as a sensor that detects a plate that serves to stop the gumlining buffing process. The Mitsubishi FX Series PLC is used as a control system with the ladder diagram programming language. Ladder diagrams are made through GX-Developer software. The results of this study conclude that the modification of this automatic based gumlining based buffering system can run well so that it has a 100% accuracy value (without error), has a faster buffing process compared to manual work, which is 59 minutes more efficient, and can help simplify the method operator work and accuracy in taking thickness data from gumlining buffing results. Keywords: Gumlining, Electric Motor, Inverter, Proximity Sensor, Mitsubishi PLC FX Series Proses buffing gumlining adalah suatu proses dimana batu gerinda sebagai alat buffing yang berputar diatas Gumlining menggunakan motor listrik dan terdapat meja buffing yang mengapit dua buah Gumlining dibawahnya digerakkan sesuai lajunya ke arah maju dan mundur secara manual menggunakan tenaga manusia sehingga kerataan permukaan Gumlining sangat berpengaruh dan berpotensi menyebabkan terjadinya Defect Open Splice. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan hasil buffing Gumlining agar lebih stabil / rata yaitu dilakukan proses buffing Gumlining dengan cara otomatis. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada proses buffing gumlining dengan menggunakan objek penelitian yaitu gumlining (suatu komponen dari Mesin Splicing yang berfungsi sebagai landasan Green Stick Tube pada saat proses splice/ penyambungan). Modifikasi sistem buffing gumlining menggunakan motor listrik sebagai sebegai penggerak landasan meja buffing gumlining, inverter sebagai pengatur kecepatan motor listrik dan proximity sebagai sensor yang mendeteksi sebuah plat yang berfungsi untuk menghentikan proses buffing gumlining. PLC Mitsubishi FX Series digunakan sebagai sistem kontrol dengan bahasa pemrograman ladder diagram. Ladder diagram dibuat melalui software GX-Developer. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa modifikasi sistem buffing gumlining berbasis otomatis ini dapat berjalan dengan baik sehingga memiliki nilai akurasi 100% (tanpa error), memiliki waktu proses buffing lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan cara kerja manual yaitu sebesar 59 menit lebih efisien, serta dapat membantu mempermudah cara kerja operator dan akurasi pengambilan data ketebalan hasil buffing gumlining.
