Abstract

Indonesia's diversity, especially in the context of religious and belief life, is starting to face a big challenge, the increasing trend of intolerance. Discrimination by the majority against minorities, prohibition of religious activities, coercion of faith, vandalism and destruction of places of worship, religious favoritism, and acts of violence in the name of religion and beliefs are continues. The purpose of this study is to identify and explain the activities of the "peaceful Islam" campaign carried out by the Wahid Foundation in strengthening tolerance and harmony among religious believers in Indonesia. The results of this study are expected to be input for all parties in efforts to fight intolerance and violence in the name of religion. Wahid Foundation is civil society organization that consistently campaigns the idea of peaceful Islam to strengthen tolerance and harmony among religious believers in Indonesia. Dissemination of the idea of peaceful Islam is poured in this organization through activities that are summarized into three pillars, advocacy and research, capacity building, and media campaigns. Dissemination of the idea of peaceful Islam is carried out by this organization online and offline channels. For online channels, the Wahid Foundation uses the organization's internal website, social media, and online media, while offline channels through seminars, training, and using printed media in the form of books and tabloids. The message spread in this campaign is a moderate religious outlook to offset the wrong views on socio-religious issues that develop in society. Keywords: campaign, tolerance, peaceful Islam, Wahid Foundation Keberagaman Indonesia, khususnya dalam konteks kehidupan beragama dan berkeyakinan, mulai menghadapi tantangan besar, yakni meningkatnya tren intoleransi. Diskriminasi oleh mayoritas terhadap minoritas, pelarangan kegiatan keagamaan, pemaksaan pemahaman, vandalisme dan perusakan tempat ibadah, favoritisme agama, hingga aksi kekerasan atas nama agama dan keyakinan atau kepercayaan masih terus terjadi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan kegiatan kampanye “Islam damai” yang dilakukan oleh Wahid Foundation dalam memperkuat toleransi dan kerukunan antarumat beragama di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi masukan bagi semua pihak dalam upaya-upaya melawan intoleransi dan kekerasan atas nama agama. Wahid Foundation adalah organisasi masyarakat sipil yang konsisten mengampanyekan gagasan Islam damai untuk menguatkan toleransi dan kerukunan antarumat beragama di Indonesia. Diseminasi gagasan Islam damai ini dituangkan organisasi ini melalui kegiatan yang dirangkum ke dalam tiga pilar, yakni advokasi dan riset, peningkatan kapasitas, serta media dan kampanye. Diseminasi gagasan Islam damai dilakukan organisasi ini saluran online dan offline. Untuk saluran online, Wahid Foundation menggunakan website internal organisasi, media sosial, dan media online, sementara saluran offline melalui seminar, pelatihan, serta menggunakan media cetakan berupa buku-buku dan tabloid. Adapun pesan yang disebarkan dalam kampanye ini adalah pandangan keagamaan yang moderat untuk mengimbangi pandangan keliru mengenai isu sosial-keagamaan yang berkembang di masyarakat.
