Abstract

The internet network is growing very rapidly in recent years, marked by the emergence of new technologies and services that demand efficient and effective bandwidth usage. This bandwidth is used by routers in handling shipping packages from one hope to another. Currently Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology as a network element that functions actively in handling package delivery is by adding a label to each packet that comes and uses the label to determine which direction the data packet should be sent. In this study a study of the performance of MPLS technology was conducted by looking at the Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, namely bandwidth, jitter, and packet loss. The results of the first experiment obtained bandwidth availability of 128 Kbps, small jitter values of 0.320 and 0.234, and low packet loss of 0% and 0.062%. Then in the second experiment, the Gold class has better QoS than the Bronze class, with a bandwidth of 512 Kbps, 0.201 jitter, and 0% packet loss while, class Bronze with a bandwidth of 158 Kbps, jitter 0.565, and packet loss 69%. Jaringan internet berkembang sangat pesat dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini, ditandai dengan munculnya teknologi dan layanan-layanan baru yang menuntut pemakaian bandwidth secara efisien dan efektif. Bandwidth ini digunakan oleh router dalam menangani pengiriman paket dari satu hope ke hope lainnya. Saat ini teknologi Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) sebagai elemen jaringan yang berfungsi aktif dalam menangani pengiriman paket yaitu dengan menambahkan suatu label pada setiap paket yang datang dan menggunakan label tersebut untuk menentukan ke arah mana seharusnya paket data tersebut dikirimkan. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan kajian terhadap kinerja teknologi MPLS dengan melihat parameter Quality of Service (QoS) yaitu bandwidth, jitter, dan packet loss. Hasil percobaan pertama diperoleh ketersediaan bandwidth sebesar 128 Kbps, nilai jitter yang kecil yaitu 0.320 dan 0.234, serta packet loss yang rendah yaitu 0% dan 0.062%. Kemudian pada percobaan kedua terlihat class Gold memiliki QoS lebih baik dibandingkan class Bronze yaitu dengan bandwidth 512 Kbps , jitter 0.201, serta packet loss 0% sedangkan, class Bronze dengan bandwidth 158 Kbps, jitter 0.565, dan packet loss 69%.
