Abstract
This study aimed to see the description of coping stress in young adults who are victims of parental divorce. This study used four respondents with aged 21-23 years old,who still in college and having experienced of parental divorce. This study is used qualitative approach with phenomenology design. The method used in this study is non-participant observation and open interview method with interview guidance. This study focused on coping stress strategy used by young adulth. Coping stress that is meant to how young adulth respon to parental divorce.The result of this study showed that young adulth who have experienced parental divorce getting stress and the subject is more dominant to used Emotional Focused Coping that is self control where the subject tries as much as possible to control their feelings, thoughts and behavior. Keywords : Coping Stress, young Adult, Parental divorce Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat gambaran coping stress pada dewasa awal yang menjadi korban perceraian orangtua. Responden yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah empat orang dengan usia 21-23 tahun yang masih berkuliah dan pernah mengalami perceraian orangtua. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian fenomenologis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode observasi nonpartisipatif dan metode wawancara terbuka dengan pedoman wawancara. Penelitian ini berfokus pada strategi coping stress yang digunakan oleh dewasa awal. Coping stress yang dimaksudkan adalah bagaimana cara dewasa awal menyikapi perceraian orangtua. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dewasa awal yang mengalami perceraian orangtua mengalami stress dan subjek lebih dominan untuk menggunakan Emotional Focused Coping yaitu Self Control dimana subjek berusaha semaksimal mungkin untuk mengendalikan perasaan, pikiran, dan perilakunya.
