Abstract

Solid transportation is a very important operation in the industrial world. Solid transportation can use conveyors, elevators, cranes, lift carrying trucks and carts. Solids transportation requires precision and accuracy that requires tools to facilitate the processing process, namely in the form of a conveyor. One type of conveyor in the industrial world is an apron conveyor which consists of a frame, drive, take-up sprocket, apron or slat, traveling roller, feed hopers, and discharge spout. Apron Conveyor problems that often occur in the steel industry, namely the broken shaft (roller) on the Apron Conveyor, thus increasing the cost of the production process due to breakdown. With the above problems, there will be an analysis and calculation of loading that occurs on the shaft apron conveyor. Calculation starts from calculating the maximum load obtained from the dimensions and type of shaft material used, then compared with the load received by the apron conveyor shaft. In order to the apron conveyor shaft does not fail, the load must be smaller than the maximum load limit. This can be obtained by reducing the load it receives or upgrading the apron conveyor shaft in terms of dimensions and material. From the results of the analysis and calculations, the apron conveyor shaft can be upgraded by increasing the radius at stepped shaft (r) to 3 mm to reduce the value of stress concentration factor (Kt) which will increase the maximum stress and use material SCM415 with a 415 Mpa of yield strength. The yield strength value of material SCM415 is larger than the material S45C (standard) which has a 343 Mpa of yield strength, so that it will increase allowable stress which will increase its maximum load to 1974.51 Newton. Keywords: Apron Conveyor, allowable stress, shaft, bending stress Transportasi padatan merupakan operasi yang sangat penting di dunia industri. Transportasi padatan dapat menggunakan alat conveyor, elevator, alat pengangkat (crane), lift carrying truck and carts. Transportasi padatan memerlukan ketepatan dan ketelitian yang memerlukan alat bantu untuk mempermudah proses pengerjaan yaitu berupa conveyor. Salah satu tipe conveyor dalam dunia industri adalah apron conveyor yang terdiri dari frame, penggerak, take-up sprocket, apron atau slat, travelling roller, feed hopers, dan discharge spout. Permasalahan Apron Conveyor yang sering terjadi dalam industri baja yaitu patahnya shaft roda (roller) pada Apron Conveyor, sehingga menambah biaya proses produksi akibat breakdown. Dengan adanya permasalahan diatas maka akan dilakukannya analisis dan perhitungan pembebanan yang terjadi pada shaft apron conveyor. Perhitungan dimulai dari perhitungan beban maksimum yang didapat dari dimensi dan jenis material shaft yang digunakan, kemudian dibandingkan dengan beban yang diterima oleh shaft apron conveyor tersebut. Agar shaft apron conveyor tidak mengalami kegagalan maka beban yang diterima harus lebih kecil dari batas beban maksimalnya. Hal ini dapat diperoleh dengan cara menurunkan beban yang diterimanya ataupun meng-upgrade shaft apron conveyor itu sendiri dari segi dimensi maupun material. Dari hasil analisis dan perhitungan yang dilakukan, shaft apron conveyor dapat di-upgrade dengan dimensi radius at stepped shaft (r) diperbesar menjadi 3 mm untuk menurunkan nilai stress concentration factor (Kt) yang akan menaikkan batas tegangan maksimumnya dan menggunakan material SCM415 dengan yield strength 415 Mpa. Nilai yield strength dari material SCM415 lebih besar dari material S45C (standar) yang memiliki yield strength 343, sehingga akan menaikkan allowable stress yang akan meningkatkan beban maksimumnya menjadi 1974,51 Newton.
