Abstract
ABSTRACT Jakarta government purpose to create appropriate residence for the urbanite low income. However, at the applications many pose a problem social interaction its inhabitants, that life in flats (vertical residence) different for life on the home or village (horizontal residence). Therefore, the room or place shared with others indispensable in flats to keep intensity social interaction its inhabitants. This study adopted qualitative descriptive approaches, in form of observations, noted, documentation, described to narration writing in accordance further from the truth, and match the results of interviews with the same answer for analysis and incorporated in script and statistic tables. The results obtained six of the seven communal spaces that examined in the flats of Cinta Kasih Cengkareng, such as area of retail, pujasera, musholla, sports field, the lobby of the first floor, and the plaza space/parking badly against an increase in social interaction of flats Cinta Kasih Cengkareng. This is because the communal spaces acted according its function as a container or place the assembled residents of flats. Keyword: communal space, social interaction, flats residence ABSTRAK Dalam upaya menciptakan tempat tinggal yang layak bagi masyarakat berpenghasilan rendah, pemerintah DKI Jakarta membangun rumah susun. Namun pada penerapannya banyak menimbulkan masalah interaksi sosial penghuninya, karena hidup di rumah susun (vertikal) berbeda dengan hidup di rumah/perkampungan (horizontal). Oleh karena itu ruang atau tempat yang digunakan bersama sangat diperlukan di rumah susun untuk menjaga intensitas interaksi sosial penghuninya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, yaitu dengan cara pengamatan, mencatat, dokumentasi, mendeskripsikan dengan narasi tulisan sesuai kejadian yang sebenarnya, dan mencocokan dengan hasil wawancara dengan jawaban yang sama untuk dianalisis dan dituangkan dalam bentuk tulisan dan tabel angka-angka. Hasil yang didapat, enam dari tujuh ruang komunal yang diteliti di rumah susun Cinta Kasih Cengkareng, seperti: area kios, pujasera, musholla, lapangan olahraga, selasar lantai dasar, dan ruang luar/parkir sangat berdampak terhadap peningkatan interaksi sosial penghuni rumah susun Cinta Kasih Cengkareng. Hal ini karena ruang-ruang komunal tersebut berperan sesuai fungsinya yaitu sebagai wadah atau tempat berkumpul penghuni rumah susun. Kata Kunci: ruang komunal, interaksi sosial, rumah susun
