Abstract

This thesis examines the influence of good corporate governance/GCG and firm size on the performance of the company. This study aims to identify and provide empirical evidence when GCG implementation with four indicators of self assessment, documents, papers, observation and size of companies represented by total assets and income affect the company’s performance as measured by price to earnings (PER) and return on equity (ROE). This study uses multiple linear regression analysis with the GCG and the size of the company as an independent variable and the performance of the company (PER & ROE) as the dependent variable. To test the hypothesis made by the method of partial least square-path modeling (PLS-PM) which use the application with XLSTAT software. The results of this study indicate that GCG reflected by four indicators listed in corporate governance perception index (CGPI) 2009-2011 (self-assessment, documents, papers and observation) did not significantly affect the performance of the company (as measured by indicators of PER and ROE ). And the size of the company (which is represented by total assets and income) also did not significantly affect the performance of the company. Keywords: good corporate governance, assets, income, PER and ROE. Tesis ini mengkaji pengaruh good corporate governance/GCG dan ukuran perusahaan terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memberikan bukti empiris bilamana penerapan GCG dengan empat indikator yaitu self assessment, dokumen, makalah, observasi dan ukuran perusahaan yang diwakili oleh total asset dan income berpengaruh terhadap kinerja perusahaan yang diukur dengan price to earning (PER) dan return on equity (ROE). Penelitian ini menggunakan analisa regresi linier berganda dengan GCG dan ukuran perusahaan sebagai independent variabel dan kinerja perusahaan (PER & ROE) sebagai dependent variabel. Untuk pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan metode partial least square-path modeling (PLS-PM) yang menggunakan aplikasi dengan software XLSTAT. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa GCG yang direfleksikan dengan empat indikator yang terdaftar di corporate governance perception index (CGPI) periode 2009-2011 (self assessment, dokumen, makalah dan observasi) tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan (yang diukur oleh indikator PER dan ROE). Dan ukuran perusahaan (yang diwakili oleh total asset dan income) juga tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Kata kunci : good corporate governance, asset, income, PER dan ROE.
