Abstract

This study aims to identify and explain the influence of competence and discipline on the performance of employees of General Bureau of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The independent variables in this study is competence and discipline, while the performance becomes the dependent variable. Data collected through survey method to seventy-two (72) respondents as the sample. The sampling data methods is probability with stratified random sampling technique. Analysis of the data used in this research is multiple linear regression. Anova test was used to compare the mean square of the regression and the mean square of the residuals in order to get the results of F count. The test results indicate that the highest influence is motive dimension in competence variable to capability dimension in performance variable. Higher motive can increase the ability of staff members. Meanwhile, the highest influence on discipline variable is preventive dimension to accuracy dimension of the performance variable. The higher preventive implementated by the organization, the higher level of precision of employees in completing a job. Test analysis showed that competence variable and discipline variable either individually or simultaneously has positive effect on performance variable. The effect of competence variable is higher than the effect of discipline variable to performance variable. Career certainty, increasing prosperity, and monitoring to the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) should be improved so that the performance of the General Bureau can be improved optimally. Keyword: Competence, Discipline, Performance. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan pengaruh kompetensi dan disiplin terhadap kinerja pegawai Biro Umum Kementerian Agama. Variabel bebas yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini adalah kompetensi dan disiplin, sedangkan kinerja menjadi variabel terikat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui metode survey kepada tujuh puluh dua (72) responden sebagai sampel. Metode pengambilan sampel adalah probability dengan teknik stratified random sampling. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah regresi linear berganda. Uji Anova digunakan untuk membandingkan antara Mean Square dari regression dan Mean Square dari residual sehingga didapat hasil yang dinamakan F hitung. Hasil uji pengaruh dimensi menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh tertinggi ada pada dimensi motif pada variabel kompetensi terhadap dimensi kemampuan pada variabel kinerja. Semakin tinggi motif akan semakin tinggi pula tingkat kemampuan pagawai. Sementara itu, pengaruh tertinggi pada variabel disiplin ada pada dimensi preventif terhadap dimensi ketepatan pada variabel kinerja. Semakin tinggi uapa preventif yang dilakukan organisasi, semakin tinggi pula tingkat ketepatan pegawai dalam menyelesaikan suatu pekerjaan. Uji analisis pengaruh variabel didapatkan hasil bahwa variabel kompetensi dan variabel disiplin baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun secara simultan berpengaruh positif terhadap variabel kinerja. Pengaruh variabel kompetensi lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan variabel disiplin terhadap kinerja. Kepastian jenjang karir, peningkatan kesejahteraan, dan pengawasan pelaksanaan Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) harus terus ditingkatkan agar kinerja pegawai Biro Umum semakin optimal Kata Kunci : Kompetensi, Disiplin, dan Kinerja.
