Abstract

Church buildings require adequate levels of comfort for users in it can perform activities well and smoothly. Comfort does not depend on indoor temperature, incoming radiation, and air quality, but is also determined by the intensity of light. Utilization of natural lighting can also save energy consumption of buildings. This study aims to analyze the value of natural light intensity level in the church room of Bogor Cathedral and to analyze how much influence of natural lighting to the visual comfort of people in the room. Using quantitative research method, by comparing the measurement result (measuring the intensity of natural lighting with lux meter device by taking into account the factors that influence the light entering into the room) by measuring the perception of the room user (distributing questionnaire sheet to the respondent). The result of the research shows that the intensity of light entering the church room has fulfilled the standard of lux which is recommended by SNI that is 200 lux, and also the response of the room user to the visual comfort of the majority of room users give positive response. This research is end with some recommendations that are recommendation to next research and recommendation of glass material selection. Keyword: Natural lighting, visual comfort, church. Bangunan gereja membutuhkan tingkat kenyamanan yang memadai agar pengguna didalamnya dapat melakukan aktifitas dengan baik dan lancar. Kenyamanan tidak bergantung pada temperatur dalam ruangan, radiasi yang masuk, dan kualitas udara, namun juga ditentukan oleh intensitas cahaya. Pemanfaatan pencahayaan alami juga dapat menghemat konsumsi energi bangunan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa nilai tingkat intensitas cahaya alami diruang gereja Katedral Bogor dan menganalisa seberapa besar pengaruh pencahayaan alami terhadap kenyamanan visual umat di dalam ruang. Menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif, dengan membandingkan hasil pengukuran (pengukuran intensitas pencahayaan alami dengan alat lux meter dengan memperhatikan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi cahaya yang masuk kedalam ruangan) dengan pengukuran persepsi pengguna ruangan (membagikan lembar kuisioner kepada responden). Hasil penelitian menujukan intensitas cahaya yang masuk ke dalam ruangan gereja telah memenuhi standar lux yang direkomendasikan SNI yaitu 200 lux, dan juga respon pengguna ruangan terhadap kenyamanan visual mayoritas pengguna ruangan memberikan respon positif. Penelitian ini di akhiri dengan beberapa rekomendasi yaitu rekomendasi terhadap penelitian selanjutnya dan rekomendasi pemilihan material kaca.
