Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of firm size and profitability on income smoothing actions that are moderated by firm age in the consumer goods manufacturing sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study is an empirical research in which data collection uses purposive sampling technique. This study utilizes data from 30 consumer goods manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2015 to 2017. The data used is secondary data obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (www.idx.co.id). Multiple linear regression analysis was carried out using SPSS version 24. The results of this study indicate that firm size and profitability have a significant effect on income smoothing actions, also the firm age can influence the influence of firm size and profitability on income smoothing actions. Keywords: firm size, profitability, firm age and income smoothing Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh ukuran perusahaan dan profitabilitas terhadap tindakan perataan laba yang dimoderasi oleh umur perusahaan pada perusahaan manufaktur sektor barang konsumer yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan studi empiris dimana dalam pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Studi ini memanfaatkan data 30 Perusahaan manufaktur sektor barang konsumer yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia pada periode tahun 2015 sampai dengan 2017. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder yang diperoleh dari Bursa Efek Indonesia (www.idx.co.id). Analisis regresi linear berganda yang dijalankan dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 24. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ukuran perusahaan dan profitabilitas berpengaruh signifikan terhadap tindakan perataan laba, selain itu umur perusahaan dapat mempengaruhi pengaruh ukuran perusahaan dan profitabilitas terhadap tindakan perataan laba. Kata kunci: ukuran perusahaan, profitabilitas, umur perusahaan dan perataan laba.
