Abstract
In Islamic history, the term Islamic center itself has never been known before. The term Islamic center itself comes from the western countries, which is a place to accommodate the activities of worship, religious lectures or activities related to the Islamization. The beginning of its emergence, caused by the unrest of Muslim minorities in western countries, who experienced difficulty in worship and stay in touch with other Muslims. Along with the development of the times, Islamic center began to be established to meet the needs of Muslims who are in developed and developing countries like in Indonesia. In order to support the development of the times and knowledge about the Islamization needed the right containers to facilitate the facilities and infrastructure of various activities to increase the piety of the community, especially Muslims in the Tangerang region, especially in the neighborhood of Al-Azhom mosque. This Islamic center building is expected to create a relationship between man and God more massively in terms of worship or other religious activities. Likewise, relationships with fellow human beings and with nature requires a container to socialize, from this relationship is expected to improve the quality of faith and piety as His servant. Keyword: Islam, Islamic Architecture, Local Wisdom, Sustainable, Modern Dalam sejarah Islam, istilah Islamic centre sendiri belum pernah dikenal sebelumnya. Istilah Islamic centre sendiri berasal dari negara-negara barat, yaitu suatu tempat untuk menampung kegiatan ibadah shalat, ceramah agama atau kegiatan-kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan ke-Islaman. Awal mula kemunculannya, disebabkan oleh keresahan umat muslim minoritas di negara-negara barat, yang mengalami kesusahan dalam beribadah dan bersilaturahmi dengan umat muslim lainnya. Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, Islamic centre mulai didirikan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan umat muslim yang berada di negara-negara yang sedang maju dan berkembang seperti di Indonesia. Dalam rangka menunjang perkembangan zaman dan ilmu pengetahuan mengenai ke-Islaman dibutuhkan wadah yang tepat guna memfasilitasi sarana dan prasarana beragam kegiatan untuk meningkatkan ketakwaan masyarakat khususnya umat muslim di wilayah Tangerang, khususnya di lingkungan masjid Al-Azhom. Bangunan Islamic centre ini nantinya diharapkan dapat menciptakan sebuah hubungan antara manusia dan Tuhan secara lebih masif baik dalam hal ibadah atupun aktivitas keagamaan lainnya. Begitu juga hubungan dengan sesama manusia maupun dengan alamnya membutuhkan wadah untuk bersosialisasi, dari hubungan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas keimanan dan ketakwaan sebagai hamba-Nya.
