Abstract

Communication is the most important factor in life, especially in the process of having an intimate relationship. One romantic intimate relationship is dating. Dating relationship is felt to be very easy to live when the couple does not separate a great distance so that it allows both to meet at any time. However, the challenge in the relationship will feel heavy when the couple is blocked by the distance that can not be taken every day to meet. The minimal quantity of meetings and the poor quality of communication can be a source of conflict in relationships if they cannot be managed properly. This study aims to find out how the communication patterns carried out by the LDR pair in managing conflicts that occur in the relationship of the LDR pair. The research method used was qualitative descriptive by conducting a case study of five LDR pairs selected by means of purposive sampling informants. The chosen pair shared their experience in going up and down as long as the LDR relationship had been undertaken. The results of the study discuss that conflict is susceptible to LDR relations due to communication quality and quantity of partner meetings. The pattern of communication carried out by each partner varies depending on how each partner is committed to maintaining the integrity of their relationship. The difference in communication patterns also causes differences in conflict management of each pair. Effective communication occurs when two individuals listen to each other and confirm the conflict that occurs as a solution to conflict resolution. This study concludes that effective communication is very important in building conflict-prone LDR relationships. Because communication can be the best solution for conflict resolution. Difficulty or not conflict to be resolved communication is the best medicine. Mutually listening and confirming in communication during the conflict can resolve the relationship conflict. Komunikasi merupakan faktor terpenting dalam kehidupan bersosial terutama dalam proses menjalani sebuah hubungan intim. Hubungan intim romantis salah satunya adalah pacaran. Hubungan pacaran dirasakan akan sangat mudah dijalani ketika pasangan tidak terpisah jarak yang jauh sehingga memungkinkan keduanya untuk bertemu kapan saja. Namun, tantangan dalam hubungan akan terasa berat ketika pasangan terhalang jarak yang tidak mampu ditempuh setiap hari untuk dapat bertemu. Kuantitas pertemuan yang minim dan kualitas komunikasi yang tidak baik mampu menjadi sumber konflik dalam hubungan apabila konflik- konflik tersebut tidak bisa dikelola secara baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pola komunikasi yang dilakukan pasangan LDR dalam mengelola konflik yang terjadi dalam hubungan pasangan LDR. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan melakukan studi kasus terhadap lima pasangan LDR yang dipilih dengan cara pemilihan informan purposive sampling. Pasangan yang terpilih membagi pengalaman mereka dalam menjalani naik turun sepanjang hubungan LDR yang telah dijalani. Hasil penelitian membahas bahwa konflik rentan terjadi pada hubungan LDR karena faktor kualitas komunikasi dan kuantitas pertemuan pasangan. Pola komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh setiap pasangan berbeda-beda tergantung bagaimana komitmen setiap pasangan dalam menjaga keutuhan hubungan mereka. Perbedaan pola komunikasi itu pula yang meyebabkan perbedaan dalam pengelolaan konflik setiap pasangan. Komunikasi yang efektif terjadi ketika dua individu saling mendegarkan dan mengonfirmasi konflik yang terjadi sebagai solusi dari penyelesaian konflik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa komunikasi yang efektif sangatlah penting dalam membangun hubungan LDR yang rentan konflik. Karena komunikasi bisa menjadi jalan keluar terbaik bagi penyelesaian konflik. Sulit atau tidaknya konflik untuk diselesaikan komunikasi merupakan obat terbaik.Saling mendengarkan dan mengonfirmasi dalam berkomunikasi selama masa konflik dapat menyelesaikan konflik hubungan
