Abstract

New days Bluetooth technology has evolved into a community, both for personal and business interest. Commonly, communication by using mobile phone the most in demand by society is text, because it is practice and cheap than phone call. In the other hand, a phone call is needed in certain situation better than texting. Based on these reason, the author provide alternative solution by creating a chat application on the mobile phone that is expected to make users more easily communicate in certain situation at a distance of about 10 meters without any cost. The application design using the method of Waterfall. From the test results on the mobile phone Nokia 3230, N73 and Sony Ericsson K550i which support Java MIDP 2.0 and Bluetooth version 2.0. The author conclude that Bluetooth Chat application can be used and work well in accordance as its function. It has been tested by sever connection can be made, entered into a connection on the server and the client service can be performed between two mobile phones can be exchanged. Keywords : J2ME, Bluetooth, Cellular Phone, Chat Pada saat ini teknologi Bluetooth telah berkembang menjadi sebuah teknologi komunitas, baik untuk kepentingan pribadi maupun bisnis. Saat ini komunikasi dengan telepon selular yang paling diminati oleh masyarakat adalah komunikasi melalui SMS, karena lebih praktis dan tarifnya lebih murah jika dibandingkan dengan menelepon. Tetapi pada situasi tertentu SMS bukan merupakan suatu fasilitas yang efisien, terutama pada situasi yang membutuhkan percakapan dalam jarak dekat tetapi tidak dapat secara langsung. Berdasarkan alasan tersebut, penulis memberikan alternatif pemecahan masalah dengan membuat aplikasi chatting pada telepon selular yang diharapkan dapat membuat penggunanya lebih mudah berkomunikasi dalam situasi tertentu pada jarak sekitar 10 meter tanpa mengeluarkan biaya apapun. Pembuatan aplikasi ini dirancang menggunakan metode Waterfall. Dari hasil uji coba pada telepon selular Nokia 3230, N73 dan sony Ericsson K550i yang mendukung Java MIDP 2.0 dan Bluetooth versi 2.0. Penulis menyimpulkan bahwa aplikasi Chat Bluetooth dapat digunakan dan berjalan baik sesuai dengan fungsinya. Seperti yang telah di ujikan pengadaan service dan penerimaan koneksi oleh sever dapat dilakukan, mengadakan koneksi pada server serta service oleh client dapat dilakukan dan data antar kedua telepon selular dapat dipertukarkan.
